Where did the whole 11:11 part come about?

Well, technically something will happen at that exact time.

It will be the "winter solstice". That's all.

Ok, I HAVE TO make this thread because there are SO MANY people around the world that don’t grasp the following fact:

It doesn't matter if it's the 21st or the 22nd in other countries. Some countries will always be 1 day or more ahead of others. The MAYAN countdown is very specific. Convert Dec 21, 2012 11:11 AM GMT ....to your timezone in the world.

For some it will be the 22nd and for some it will be the 21st.

This is when the Mayan calendar expires, which just happens to be on the winter solstice at 11:11 AM GMT TIME ZONE on the 21st.

PST = Dec 21, 2012 @ 3:11 AM
EST = Dec 21, 2012 @ 6:11 AM
London, England = Dec 21, 2012 @ 11:11 AM

That's the time of the Winter Solstice.

All time is measured off of GMT or UTC time. that's the line that divides the world into a different day.

So then your country would be + or - 1, 2, 4 ect....from that imaginary line called UTC or GMT.

That's what I'm wondering.

It appears I'm going to have to set my alarm clock to get up in time for the end of the world!

Why?

Most basic answer is, they believed it was the beginning of the New Age, or their masters were coming back.

1) The winter solstice will happen at a specific time.

2) That specific time can be translated into different time zones.

3) Understanding the above, we all get there at the same time. The winter solstice is the winter solstice.
