I don't know about Japan. Nukes keep a lot of forces in check. China on equity? China has been investing a lot on infrastructure they don't need. Go watch the videos about all the empty cities in China with the very expensive High Rises and and Shopping Centers that nobody there can afford. So they aren't that good with money after all. The thing the Chinese are always trying to figure out is how to control so many people over there with a central Government. That's their biggest challenge. The US should always be willing to take Chinese in. Because the Chinese are also the World's smartest people. It's in their culture to learn and succeed. It's not the Chinese we should be worried about. It's their military. We can resettle the Chinese over here on Government land. That might even be a brain drain for them. But I would never allow the Chinese Military to get a foothold over here. That would be complete stupidity.

Why don't they just share the islands, for Christ sakes! Isn't the surrounding island's rich in oil? Share the damn stuff! Why does anyone want to start a war over this? It's not like the Japanese people are in any shape to have a war, with radiation pouring out all over the place, unless they feel that they have nothing to lose anyways, because they are all going to die of cancer. The islands belong to JAPAN, if they are given up to the thugs in Beijing, they'll use it to rally even more violent nationalism, smash up more businesses and cars then go after the nearest land to their already illegally extended limit.

Their mentality is that China(the Middle country/kingdom) has a "mandate of heaven" (though not the heaven we think of), they place their country in the middle of all maps, tear pages out of Lonely planet books and smash the face in of anyone that dares say otherwise. China has some great and warm people within, unfortunately they aren't running the show.

The day the first shot is fired a couple of things will happen. First, if China is still holding any US debt it will become worthless. All those t-bonds will be voided. Secondly, all US assets in China and all Chinese assets in the US will be confiscated.

Financially, the best thing that could happen to the US would be a war with China. It would hurt bad for a couple of years until all that production capacity could be resored (some of it back here in the US). Afterwards, China would be turned into a big turd with nobody to peddle it's wares to except SOME of the other BRICs.
