The US needs to rush a couple of docked carriers back into duty and send them to the Pacific. Another one needs to be sent from elsewhere. That would give us 4 or 5 in the area. A few air wings should be moved into the area. The Phillipines might consider letting some forces back in temporarily since China has been punking on them, too.

Then all that has to happen is to make sure that war breaks out. It really won't be hard to eliminate all their ships. Their missiles will be a problem. We can't stop them from launching missiles. Trying to operate aircraft inside China wouldn't be wise. It would be better to barrage them with a thousand cruise missiles. Hit airfields, power plants, dams, and other critical infrastructure. Set up a long range blockade and watch them starve.

A very short war of even a few days or even a few hours could provide valuable capabilities estimates to gage a clash of titans.

Let's say a flash war resulted in:
(1) AIR: 6 US designed aircraft lost with no Chinese losses.
(2) SEA: Japan loses 4 ships in a naval clash and looses 10 submarines in a daylight air raid on the submarine pens. China looses no ships or submarines.
(3) LAND: Japanese remaining nuclear power plants damaged by high altitude bunker busters in fears of Japanese emerging capabilities to forge nuclear weapons.
(4) SPACE: 4 US/Japanese strategic satellites destroyed by Chinese surface-to-space weapons.

HOW WOULD THIS CHANGE THE WORLD?
-US debt crisis.
-Africa resources.
-US civil war over the "Go for the guns!"
-Chinese/Mexican military assistance to Texas and other like minded States seeking independence.

2) China is trying to push it's weight around, testing the waters, seeing who reacts and who doesn't.

3) China DOES NOT 'own' the U.S.; it holds the largest amount of foreign owned debt, but most U.S. debt is domestic. And it would be an incredibly stupid thing for the CHICOMs to fuck around when they have so much invested with the U.S. [and truthfully, vice-versa]. But at the end of the day, it's really the U.S. who hold the major cards.
