Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1306067 Our armed forces are but a mere shadow of what they once were. Moral is in the shitter, gangs now roam the barracks and the battlefields. It was bad enough when they started accepting openly gay fucks, who now are OUT THERE AND LOVING IT. Now they are going to use our wives, mothers, sisters, and aunts to fight on the front lines. This is NOT about equal rights, nor political correctness. This is about HUMAN RESOURCES. The military has already lowered testing and admission standards, in order to fulfill quota's, resulting in the scraping of the very bottom of the barrel. This is indeed, a sad day for America. Yes it is a Sad Day.... We are watching it crumble brick by brick daily... The Great City on the Hill is GONE! If a bunch of North Korean soldiers burst into a radar station in Oregon, what are the female operators supposed to do? Tell the North koreass as they mow them down with automatic fire, "Sorry, but I can't shoot you as I'm under a "combat ban" - you're going to have to ignore me and move on to shoot the male staff"? Remember, during the Second World War, the Japanese did briefly invade and occupy part of Alaska (part of the Aleutian Islands). If you are in the US Army, you are in the front line. You are in harms way to kill or be killed if the battle reaches you...and for the US to "ban combat" as if they are the ones who always dictate where combat is so arrogantly stupid that the French Army, claiming that it would dictate where the Second World War would be fought in 1940, three weeks before Hitler's Panzer's rolled into Paris, the French capital is about the only parallel that I can find in history. Whoever's on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, clearly isn't fit to face a Military Grade One test paper on basic military competance. |

Same with the Russians IIRC. Quoting: s. d. butler Russians seemed to have some pretty decent female snipers during the second world war, however that was a different war where every able body was necessary. However women will not be spared rape and torture giving the fact that men from other military and religions have such disdain for women in combat. I hope they bring their A game if they indeed face full on combat, might as well keep a side arm with the last one in the chamber reserved to take their own life when the enemy closes in on their positions. the end result is its a sign of our over stretched military, degenerating morale, and need to provide for both domestic control as well as more forces for the 35 African nations that we are sending troops too. Sad day for america, and a scary prospect for those women. |

The argument is whether women are capable of performing in ground combat units as opposed to support and service support units. And also what such integration might do to unit morale and capabilities. No one has said women can't defend themselves as needed. |

No offense ladies, but you do not belong on the front lines. There is more to fighting a war than a trigger finger. Quoting: Resister I agree with you 100%, Resister, and I'm a woman. This is so wrong. I'm fine with women serving in the military in non-combat roles. I just feel very strongly that women should not be allowed in combat for a variety of reasons. I would love to hear some current/former military views on this because I have to imagine that this will be bad for troop morale. Quoting: Professor Xavier Now every woman in the service can be raped to death protecting the Muslim Brotherhood in Obama's World Caliphate Expansion project! On a more serious note, most rapes occur from our own armed forces personel, something that should make every mother and father angry! These women are devoting their lives to the USA. They are patriots and they are being abused. [link to www.guardian.co.uk] "The DoD estimates that in 2010 alone, over 19,000 sexual assaults occurred in the military." Half were female soldiers. Rape is not just a female issue. It's a serious crime. The punishment in a military setting (if not all settings) should be severe violent execution and probably torture. In rape, often less than 1 in 10 are reported. Many of the rapists attack more than one victim. It's very possible that a superior officer forced himself (or herself) upon an enlisted soldier and did so on many under their command. While women have served in combat in the Soviet Union(WW2), Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway, Serbia, etc, it makes us all cringe. It's an emotional issue. Volunteer armies are a good thing. It can be noble to serve your country. Unfortunantly nations abuse all soldiers by asking them to serve corporate interests, often oil production, often police actions which are not their purview, or they so limit the range of the rules of engagement as to put them in HARM'S WAY. It's inevitable that women will serve in combat in the USA. If women have equal rights, there's a cost to that. Equal rights means equal risk just as men have. Let's let our soldiers be soldiers. Let them defend us with honor. Let's let them be used to attack the enemy. Let's not abuse their trust. Many Americans are obese. Most have no upper body strength, even young people. [link to www.chicagomag.com] [link to sportsmedicine.about.com] [link to www.nytimes.com] The new recuits are a product of video games and not hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, regular and disciplined physical education. What we should be doing is improving the physical fitness of all Americans, most certainly young Americans by the reward method of reducing college tuition. We should encourage young Americans to enter military academies and become career soldiers. While some women could be combat ready, making a blanket change at a time of poor combat readiness is FOOLISH. Some may be able to serve with honor and distinction. Don't make ALL do something to satisfy an agenda of equality. Creating professional soldiers just as we create any professionals like physicians will result in better soldiers. Would you use a draft to get a doctor? HELL NO! Would you use a draft to create farmers? HELL NO! Why would you ever use a draft to create a fighting force? Answer: you need people to take point and take the first hit or hit the first landmine. It's asinine.
