Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 32076855 United Kingdom 01/25/2013 08:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Atheism is a claim to absolute knowledge of the existence or rather, lack thereof, of god. No logical person would make this claim. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3342108 No its not. Atheism only claims that believing in any religion that that person is somewhat familiar with is pointless. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Positive atheism (also called strong atheism and hard atheism) is the form of atheism that asserts that no deities exist.[1] Negative atheism (also called weak atheism and soft atheism) is any other type of atheism, wherein a person does not believe in the existence of any deities, but does not explicitly assert there to be none.[1][2][3] Thank you, I meant to make that point in full. |

First of if it is evolution or creation then how exactly do you determine which creation myth is true out of the thousands we have? Second off if you ultimately do decide out of the thousands of creation myths that the one in the Bible is correct then how are you supposed to know which interpretation of the Bible is correct? Lucky Charms User ID: 32992249 Ireland 01/25/2013 08:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A genuine atheist should have no problem at all proving their convictions by committing suicide at a moments notice. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2898037 A true atheist has no intrinsic value for life by definition. A true atheist has no belief in a god or gods by definition... that is all. Also I'll think you'll find that somebody who lacks belief in an afterlife will value their existence far too much to commit suicide to "prove" anything. There is no better place, no better state of being then to be alive right here, right now, it's all we get so we hold onto it with both hands and we love it and preserve it to the best of our ability. Life is the ultimate measure of value, because it's all we get. Religion devalues life all the time, you see it in the actions of Islamic martyrs who blow themselves up in crowds of innocent civilians, you hear it in the language of mourning believers. "He's gone to a better place." "When we die we become perfect." "We suffer on Earth but are rewarded in Heaven." "God called him home." I would argue that religion automatically devalues life by definition as it holds the concept of an afterlife in higher esteem than earthly existence. 'Magically Delicious' |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 2898037 United States 01/25/2013 08:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | God is not a person. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2898037 God is quantum. The very fabric of our reality is mathematically vetted holographic. In true reality, our existence is a holographic simulation, like in a computer, albeit infinitely more complex. Incomprehensibly complex to the simple physical human brain. Since our reality is a simulation, there must be a program. A computus. How do you know this? If this is a program, what programmed it? Then what programmed that? Then what programmed that? There is no end. It does make sense, or offer an explaination. The finality of it all can not be comprehended via the human brain. If you can achieve an astral projection and bring that knowledge back, then you will have a glimpse. Otherwise just wait until you die. It's only a few years out for all of us. Have you done an astral projection? How do you know it is not your imagination or a trance? You just know. Like proving the existence of God, it is a thing of self confirmation. It is a solo realization, not a group effort. No matter what my achievements are, I will never be able to articulate them to someone who is not ready to see. I've had astral projections my entire life with many instances of physical world confirmations like viewing people and catching them in lies. I have met up with fellow projectors on the astral plane and confirmed it in the physical realm. But again, if you are not spiritually mature enough to accept it, you will simply dismiss it. And that is fine. We must all learn to crawl before we can walk. Astral projections are most easily remembered by using the gates of dreaming. The hypnogogic state. Everyone projects every night. The key is to remember then control. 1. Keep a dream journal 2. Google hypnogogic state. Use it to cross over consciously. 3. Transcend the physical world. It is that easy. Monks have their arms and legs amputated. Eyes plucked out. Ears deafened. Tongue severed. All to achieve an astral projection. They have nurses keep them alive so they are forced to transcend. All you have to do is keep a dream journal. REALLY keep a dream journal. Everything will progress from there. You will get a quantum leap in spiritual promotion. |

The 1st one needs to be answered first. Second, this is done with research. Not reading a few tweets, but months/years of research that nobody wants to put time in to. And when one of these "quick people" want an answer and someone who researched it gives their opinion, they're immediately shut down. Research the bible, the different versions of it, etc, and you can trace all variances down to one specific version. Try King James Version. People can pull scripture out all they want to make whatever point they want -- I recommend going back and reading the entire chapter the verses refer to in order to get that all important context that so many people miss. Third, I'm not sure I agree with you that the scientific method holds no ultimate truths. The Scientific method (used by reproducing results and observing them) can lead to many facts about life; commonly known as "truth." There are many kinds of truth, just like kool-aid. You cannot look for the answers to all truths in one location. It does bother me that people blindly follow things without exercising reason because I think they can miss out or lead others to miss out. But I don't deny that it is good for some people. But on the flip side painful for a lot of other people. I don't have a problem with religion, but with it's effect on mankind. |

Using the intellect, and doing research, there are numerous proofs of God, but no matter how logical the arguments are, I doubt they are persuasive. Why? An argument appeals to the intellect. The intellect looks for observable phenomena (evidence), compares that to logical statements, listens to the voices of proponents and critics, and then analzes it himself or herself. What's missing? Love. Love is not logical. You can't prove it ever. There's some evidence but it's largely circumstancial. No one looking outside your heart (proponents or critics) or even the Beloved can know your heart. There's no way to validate it with analysis or logical or evidence. It won't compute.
