Also, I'm thinking of investing into silver coins. Does anyone else do this? Here are the values of what the metals are actually worth.

With shipping, $15 worth of pre 1982 pennies has a bid of $25... This is pretty interesting in my opinion!

They are worth more than any paper also. Paper money is not backed by anything anymore. Nickles are backed by themselves. We have coppers in the uk.

How would you melt the coins down without getting in trouble for it?
I am interested in this. It's insane that my quarters are really worth over 5 dollars.

I'm assuming you mean quarters that are pre 1964.

And you don't have to melt the coins illegally. I have been looking on ebay and people sell penny rolls that are pre 1982 for basically double the value. I saw $15 in pennies sell for $26. It's not like it's a ton of money, but it's pretty interesting.

You DON'T melt them, that is illegal. Just sell them as is.

Your quarters are still worth a quarter unless they are pre '65
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I'd like to go quietly in my sleep, like grandpa did. Not screaming in terror like the people in the back seat of the car he was driving.

Re: Pennies and Nickles are worth more than 1 and 5 cents!
Get boxes or rolls of coins from your bank. Then try to find a bank that has one of those coin machines that is free to members. It makes it easier to get rid of them after you have looked for your silver/copper.

But be careful. Sometimes they give you boxes of new coins, that sucks! Just find a nice teller, tell her what your doing and ask for a box of circulated ones if they have them.

If you melt them you can be arrested.

Never melt them.

You will never need to anyway, people will pay you because they know what they are worth.

Just the same as people will give you a dollar for a dollar as that is fair and equal trade, they will give you a premium for pre 1982 pennies.

You should NEVER make a withdraw of such a large amount of coins. The retired CIA agent said to ONLY get $10 in nickels at a time perbank. To keep from drawing unwanted attn to you and your home...esp if you prep! He said you can hit 7 or 8 different banks a day and request $10 in nickels from ea.bank.
Think how many banks are in large cities! **Remember stay off the radar** Since all bank withdraws are electronically documented...a withdraw in all those coins could very well put you on a " watch list"
