we as a Republic have the duty to vigorously protect even the despicable persons and groups rights so they do erode our own later on...

Very much agree. I've seen those Westboro freaks in DC up close and personal one year in DC, and I thought that was the worst thing about them, too, the fact that they bring children with them to their 'protests'-effectively brainwashing those kids.
