So since I make 15 a hour, that means all those years I worked my ass off to get there gets flushed down the toilet. I would love a 3 dollar a hour raise that's a extra 120 bucks

Oh I think it is great also!! When the cost if labor goes up, the cost of goods goes up with it....and hay, let's face it, some us can still afford our own food and bills.. Our economy is stuck in a capitalistic catch22.

People don't spend money because they don't get paid enough. The government increases minimum wages to combat that. Then corporations fire people to equalize the wage increase to keep in line with revenue, because god forbid we lose a point this year, even though we have a chance for the potential of 5 more points next year with customers having increased wages. Then we're back at square one, people don't have jobs to spend money, corporations don't hire because no one is spending money.

and as food prices and taxes go up the government employees get raises so that they never feel the increases that the rest of us feel. it is only we who work in the private sector and don't have a taxpayer piggybank to dip into who it hurts...

Back when I was a kid in 1980, minimum wage was $3.25. If you were a full-time employee (40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year) your annual salary was $6,968. The average household income was $17,000, so as a ratio the minimum wage earner made about 41% of that average household income.

Fast forward to 2012. Minimum wage of $7.25 for a full-time employee meant an annual salary of $15,080. The average household income was $50,000, so the ratio is 30%.

Now, we all know that the middle class has been losing ground, but think about the poorest workers - they are losing ground to the middle class even!

Some of you have your heads up your butts if you think those people don't deserve a raise. If you made the ratio equal to 1980, the minimum wage should be close to $10.

You all bitch about people doing nothing and collecting entitlements, but there isn't much other choice for the untrained worker. Let's at least give them an incentive to work.

no one is making min wage for ever unless they are seriously disabled. this is a false narrative, that people are routinely struggling to raise families on min wage. most move up, get better jobs
