Can Someone Place A Tracking Device Inside Your Gas Tank

They were trying to steal your gas.
There are plenty of places to put a tracker under a vehicle.

which brings me to my second point

liquid and electronics don't go together
even if it was water proof sealed and submerged
you'd have to have some serious $$ for that kind of
gadget which isn't assuming you are not important or anything :)

Your gas tank is a Faraday cage and the signal wouldn't be transmitted...

Don't you have a locking fuel filler cap? Pretty much standard here.

Only if it's made of metal. A lot of tanks are plastic.

Best way to be sure is to fry the electronics with a pulse of electricity. Strip the wires from a mains cable then slide it down into the tank. Switch on the power & plunge it in & out to make sure you reach every corner of the tank.

I had 4 vehicles parked with 2 showing signs. My older 2005 yukon denali I will check the gas gauge when I return.

While it is possible, it's not likely that someone that had access to something that good would be so sloppy as to leave a clue behind them. I would be more wary of something else put into the gas that may cause an issue a few miles down the road.

A metal tank would act like a Faraday shield. However if the transmitter were on a cord so that it was suspended in the rubber tube connecting to the gas tank you couldn't see it but it could transmit.

what do you do about the fire you start?

nothing, the explosion will take you out before the fire starts. no worries.

Use your cigarette lighter to see in the tank maybe you can get it out.

The whole incident does not make sense. I checked the gas levels on all the vehicles and no gas was taken. We are being more vigilant since the stalkers are getting more brazen.

That's no exactly true. The fuel pump is electronic and it stays submerged in fuel inside the tank.

Does someone hate you?
Usually if someone is popping open your gas tank late at night it's either to steal gas or add sugar...

One truck had the push door slightly ajar. My car has a push button on the inside of the car and the car was locked. Somehow someone figured out to open the door without a screw driver that would leave marks.

This wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many unmarked black vehicles or vehicles with blacked out windows seen in the area. Today my bro while walking the street behind my house noticed a black escalade just parked with 2 people sitting. He glanced at them and kept walking, Later he noticed the car slowly going down the main side street like they were watching him.

I just worry for my 2 year old son who he is watching for us for the work week. My other neighbor who got the licence plate number 3 weeks ago on another car and was turned into the police didnt come back with anything.

The police havent responded which is strange unless they forgot or the plate is government related.
