It's all for show.

Remember, REAL military maneuvers are done in silence. No way will an attacking force announce the attack coming.

It doesn't do well for winning wars. But it does GREAT for winning popular opinion.

Israel didn't get the target, declare Assad's retaliation. Israel false flags a small attack and uses to justify an air raid into Syria.

England was down to it's last week of rations and out of ammo in WWII before the US became the 3rd 'one' in.

Was the Israel raid not the assassination of an Iranian General that specialized in civilian infrastructure (compared to French Commandos who are interested in wrecking the same) rather than wrecking what would be the equal to the admin and shop facilities for repairs in any township anywhere in the world. Anybody identify the two military vehicles there. One would seem to have enough antennas that it would equal what the UN has driving around the Golan Heights even though it is under IDF control. (that missing UN person get found yet?).

That would be why Israel isn't directly claiming credit instead of making a big deal over the storage facility they bombed took credit for a few years back in 'Operation Orchard'. (to the point of dropping DU so it would test positive, most likely a war crime by itself).

Syria can get it before a UN Court once the bullets start flying. Assad could lay the charges himself or the evidence could come at his trial at the same ICC Court rather than a Military Tribunal held by the victors. The only place there is no protection from a veto.

For someone to think Syria would invade Israel openly via a military strike is just having a bad, wet dream. If Iran is playing defensive the so is Syria. Russia is also taking that stand so at any trials that result it can't be shown that they were acting deceptively. If deceptions could be pulled on that court then there would not be such a great effort made to make sure things never get that far.

It isn't like Israel isn't making it's own threats.

(in part)
Yaalon said Syrian President Bashar Assad would be "held responsible for everything that happens along the border."

Why would Syria re-invest in a military strategy that clearly had some flaws in it?
If you are going to invest in fleets of aircraft then you also have to train your pilots as hard as the enemy is and advances in that area are very fast so it is big bucks, something Syria didn't have.

The SAM sites were the first targets so that also means they were the biggest threat. Improve that area and the jets aren't required and the same thing as last time would happen again and they are only needed if the war goes past the borders. Defensively SAM's are the method, S-300 hardware is all the need as the fight will be close-quarters and jets will be like a galloping goose compared to the directed bombs that come from the edge of space so they cannot cheap out on that kind of defense so they need the S-500 software and radar.

Ideally Syria needs some short-range surface-to-surface hardware that has targeting in real-time on any highway, in any mountain pass, in any warehouse. That would be drones or Russian intel from their sat cameras.

That Israel or NATO hasn't attacked shows the defense is working and the Saudi financiers are going to start looking at the cost compared to progress. (while telling them to buy the same aircraft that are grounded against defenses of a certain level, lol they should have bought AK-47's instead and saved a whole lot of money in the process)

Really it is high time for forceful action to stop the antics of that loathsome, gravy-voiced, self-satisfied, bloodthirsty, warmongering closet-queen, William Hague.

Speaking about a reported Israeli airstrike in January on Syrian soil, which had allegedly damaged a chemical weapons site, Assad vowed to hit back as he said his country always had, though he said it might not be an overt counterattack.

“We retaliated in our own way, and only the Israelis know what we mean. Retaliation does not mean missile for missile or bullet for bullet. Our own way does not have to be announced,” he said.

For some reason people keep blaming israel for the rebels while forgeting that we hate the rebels as much as we hate assad.
both are bad for us , rebels are worse since their muslim brotherhood so we support neither side.
we only keep watch that no weapons will go from syria into hezbolla hands and that the rebels wont get chemical weapons and thats the end of our involvment.
As for assad the main reason that we prefer him over the muslim brotherhood is that hes a coward that is all talk but no action, our jets flew over his palace even before the civil war and he did nothing.

Good day to you all.

Agree with this.
No reason to have him out of the play, provided that his army is not too strong.
The stalemate burning islamists, soldiers and resources is just the right thing for that purposes.
And everybody knows that it is a stalemate, except perhaps Mhz and like-minded people.
Every helicopter, fighter, tank or Scud on FSA is one less to worry about for Israel
Every Al Nusra or variant cut down is one less to worry about for Israel, the West AND RUSSIA.

If the rebels take the whole line except the 'official crossing' and Syrian troops retake it a short time later. The injuries they are treating some (7)rebels for (and most likely the missing UN guy) should be from the first battle and the stuff they wanted to get in would have been transferred by backpack or remote trail. Even a UN troop carrier depending how he went missing. Israel has an agenda with who is in power. The actual rebles will be hung out to dry and the globe trotting 'new Government' is the ones that will be installed. As NATO and Israeli friedly as the Shaw of Iran was Big Oil friendly and all that goes along with that. Something like the current Shaw in Afghanistan. Perhaps Syria need to vote at the next scheduled election (2014) about making him their 'Shaw', same as Russia could do for Putin and Venezuela could do it for Hugo if his health returns. The US should have done it for JFK if his policy had not changed from the way it was in his last speeches. (maybe not perfect but better than the way it is today)

Re: Breaking-Assad Vows To Retaliate Against Israel For Airstrike
AFTER 23 months of a conflict that has ripped his country apart, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, was in no mood to contemplate giving up the fight and going into exile.

“No patriotic person will think about living outside his country. I am like any other patriotic Syrian,” he said in an interview last week, when I asked if he would leave to improve the prospects for peace. In any case, he said, it was nonsense to suggest that the conflict was about the president and his future.

“If this argument is correct, then my departure will stop the fighting. Clearly this is absurd, and recent precedents in Libya, Yemen and Egypt bear witness to this.”

Assad spoke softly throughout the hour-long interview, his first with a western newspaper for more than a year, but he had harsh words for his opponents.

He vowed that Syria would retaliate against Israel for an airstrike on a research centre in Damascus last month.

How long before Israel has a majority Government? (they would if the 'right to return' ever comes up, just not the ones the current ones would like)
Israel has to put a price on their settlements first though as that will be applied to the original inhabitants base price for ownership and potential value today if collecting rent all the time they were gone.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Sunday in response to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s interview that he was "delusional" for failing to see that the bloodshed in his country was at his own hands.

Hague said that this week Britain will announce more non-lethal assistance to the Syrian opposition and refused to rule out the possibility of arming them in the future

On a good day. Still worth the sorting through the other stuff that seems to have no value if 10% is an average. The 90% could serve as living examples of how lies are constructed through the layout of the whole message as well as what trigger words look like and are supposed to do, either hide the message or highlight it depending who is reading the message. There can't be that many variants. If the 'article' says 'the French are supplying cell phones' then in 'Spywanese' it means 'don't use the phones use the 'alternative' to retrieve instructions'. Something like the same media with the phones article would be a good guess.
'The other side' is busy searching through phone records for clues and may even be planted while the real message has a different way of traveling all together.

Somebody hit it on the button. This is the flaw. The flaw will lead to disaster. We are supporting the Wahabists because they are Big Oil Friendly! They will massacre the Christians and threaten the Jews in Israel. They need to be contained. I didn't say destroyed. I think Assad was given a chance by Israel up to two years ago. Israel could have then argued that Syria was a buffer for them. Not a threat. They told him what he needed to do. He needed to come to Jerusalem but he went with Iran. Now it's too late. We are stuck with supporting the rebels. It isn't in Israel's interests and 100,000 people have been killed in Syria and it will probably rise to 1 Million once the Wahabists take over. It will be the SHTF!

Assad does not rule out reprisals for Israeli raid

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said in an interview published here Sunday that he did not rule out retaliation for an Israeli air raid near Damascus in January.

"Retaliation does not mean missile for missile or bullet for bullet. Our own way does not have to be announced," Assad told Britain's Sunday Times newspaper in a videotaped interview conducted last week at his palace in Damascus.

Israel, which fears the transfer of Syrian weapons to the Lebanese guerrilla movement Hezbollah, implicitly confirmed that it carried out an air raid near Damascus on January 30.

The raid targeted surface-to-air missiles and an adjacent military complex believed to house chemical agents, according to a US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Mortar rounds believed to be have been fired from Syria hit the southern Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday without causing damage or casualties, the Israeli army said.
