How would people react if the new Pope takes the name Peter just for spite?

Even if it is peter the roman, for me life will just continue on.

It does not matter who the new Pope will be, people will find a way to link him to 'Peter Romanus'. They are already doing it.

Didn't some guy named Malachy publish a list of all the names the popes would use for hundreds of years? So he should just choose whatever name is next on the list.

I think they should keep the "Just for Spite" for the Mark of the Beast excuse.
