The way one or two cases pop up daily make me wonder if people are getting exposed thru dried bird droppings-blowing in the wind.???

The H7N9 virus has mutations that mean that it spreads from birds to humans more easily than does H5N1. Proximity between bird and mammal populations could also give the virus opportunities for further adaptation to mammals, including humans. An international team of researchers compiled maps for
Nature showing the population densities of chickens, pigs, ducks and humans in many parts of China and throughout Asia.

They calculate that 131 million people, 241 million domestic chickens, 47 million domestic ducks and 22 million pigs live within a 50-kilometre radius of each of the 60 H7N9 human cases that had occurred up to 16 April.

I am very surprised that there has been no mention of testing mice or rats. Hantavirus is passed by inhaling dried mouse droppings. The black plague was spread by fleas, infesting rats. If you have an open market, then you definitely have rodents. You will also have chicken fleas, which can infest dogs, cats, people etc. The connection may be the open markets, but the vector my be rodents or fleas. It would not take too many rodents, nibbling on infected poultry, to enable a species crossover. The same for pigs. Chinese farmers feed just about anything to their pigs. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there have been many cases of people feeding dead birds to their pigs. Kinda makes you wonder about the mammalian adaptation, and the many carcases floating down the rivers.

By the way, does anyone else think its a bit worrisome, that Taiwan has not released an update for the 3 health care workers? Then again, the same goes for the mystery flu in Germany.

H7N9, Guangdong: Poultry suspected to be positive for new birdflu virus

At present, the batch of poultry no clinical symptoms. Yet found infection.
Dongguan is a big city sprawling between Guangzhou to the north and Shenzhen (just north of Hong Kong) on the south. I recall it as mostly farmland and small towns in 1983, but clearly times have changed. And if H7N9 is confirmed in animals there, Hong Kong will be going to battle stations.

Original Antigenic Sin was coined in 1960 by Thomas Francis, Jr. in the article On the Doctrine of Original Antigenic Sin) that postulates that when the body’s immune system is exposed to and develops an immunological memory to one virus, it may be less able to mount a defense against a subsequent exposure to a second slightly different version of the virus.

Going to somewhat repeat my post here as well.

With the recent H7N9 virus being utterly deadly news, the empty cities in the Chinese desert. They are also contesting some islands and whatnot. I am starting to think China will screen their population for the virus and ship off those not infected to places farthest away and give them a chance of survival someplace isolated. Just something that clicked in my mind as I was reading the forum today. I am not usually big on conspiracy theories at all.

Interesting read, I found this part ringing familiar.

"B: The Chinese population? Or everyone on the planet? Is this part of the population reduction plan? What did they say?

W: Well, there was talk about biological agents being used, described as being flu-like and it would spread like wildfire. Now, they didn't mention it at this meeting, but I know now that it will attack people genetically, not everybody together. How that would happen... I'm not a geneticist, I really don't know. One can only assume that it's linked to DNA in some way."

China reported 10 more cases of the H7N9 avian influenza since early Friday, bringing the total number to 122 including 24 deaths, according to data compiled by Bloomberg and the official Xinhua News Agency. The central province of Hunan confirmed its first case yesterday, while eastern Jiangxi added three more for a total of five, according to Xinhua.

I was noticing that also and I find it interesting that due to China's one child policy, many of the Chinese have opted to keep a boy child. So it would seem that China has an over abundance of males. Interesting fit if you ask me. co-inkydink, I doubt it.

But then again maybe its because there is far more men than women that we are seeing more men afflicted.

They keep mentioning the fact that people and birds test negative during certian windows of exposure- like between 4-6 days after exposure, is neg. result, and neg. blood tests, etc. this is worrisome because they may be getting a lot of false negs. People are ill, but test neg. for a while- very weird virus. They also got neg results from throat swabs, but when they went deeper into the resp. system, got positive results. The people doing the testing do not look like professionals to me, look at the pix of testers, and others handeling chickens. They should be in full bio- hazard gear, and often are not.
