Don't think in terms of shielding, shielding is ineffective for anything.

If you want to test the idea of generating power with cold get a simple peltier device(like you find in pump-less portable coolers) place one side on something at room temperature with a high specific heat capacity(like steel)wrap a few ice cubes in a plastic bag and place them on top of the peltier.
Measure the voltage at the leads with a multimeter.
