What about the Moon - is there something out on the web that can give Earth and the Moons relative position during the passing of the Comet ? I figure a hunk a Moon is just as bad as a piece of Comet.

Not being an astronomer, what does that data actually imply?

0.0001 sounds rather close....

Looks to me like the data on the link given is an error.

This page from the same site has the closest approach at 0.0867 AU or 33.7 LD.

And a simulation of the comets orbit...

[link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]

Also show that it will pass no closer than .0867 AU

Hey people wake up, this can only an error on that site, all others fragments quite correspond with nominal and minimum distances.

NASA went out of their way to debunk "Internet Rumors" and stated the closest piece would be millions of miles away - a couple days ago !

Has been available at the link for sometime - my feeling is someone on the inside wants the people to know - I wouldn't be surprised if they claim it was a typo.

Think about it - you are trying to calm everyone about a "Non-event" - then you mistakingly make a typo like that and post it ? NOT - unless their is a game a foot .... hmmmm

pretty once in a lifetime crap if true ! The awe and beauty this thing will be - don't fear it, what is to be will be regardless.

5/11 is a code...

let's think back to 9/11/01...

the pentagon was a 5 sided building
the WTC towers were 1 1

see ... that's the 5 11 connection

This is NASA's way of telling us they have been wrong on there calculations, not much room for error anymore.

That particular frag should miss by about 9800 miles. Bear in mind that is NASA's take based on todays data. For even the most skeptical...still might be a good idea to visit the supermarket on 5/10.

Sorry but the first is the only one where nominal an minimum differ by a factor of 1/900, all others differ by a fraction of that only.

horn It's an error, they just forgot to type it in that "minimal" field there.
