Mustache imagery sudden popularity??

Anytime I see a trend that doesn't really have a clear (to me) genesis, I am suspect. This sudden, obsessive interest in all things "mustache" has me puzzled. Granted, I have never been a sheep and am always shaking my head at many passing trends. But, I cannot for the life of me figure out the mustache craze. I am referring to kids loving clothes with mustache designs, mustache parties, etc they are EVERYWHERE. I typed "Mustache Illuminati"' into Google and see images of Mustaches on Pyramids. Anyone have a theory?
