Thinking that us "little people" are that stupid. How arrogant. or He is just that stupid. No It's worse than that, the majority of Americans are that stupid, and he is smart enough to know it. The majority of the free-loaders are just that stupid(libtards). I'm not sure that the majority of Americans are libs. I think he got elected through voter fraud, not because the majority wanted him. But you might be right, which is scary. Last Edited by JPOP on 09/19/2013 12:17 AM |

Quoting: Sikhed You see, if you have a maxed-out credit card with a $10,000 limit, and you've reached the limit. Then increasing the limit to $15,000, and not spending another single penny, you have not increased your debt. But we all know where this will go. (edit) Sorry for stealing your gif, it's just so fitting for the man. You bet your ass we know where it'll go.... 1980 - 1 Trillion Debt 2000 - 4 Trillion Debt 2013 - 16 Trillion Debt 36 years and the debt increased 16x! It took over 200 years to get to a Trillion for fuck sake! "The Tree of Liberty is Thirsty and needs Watering" -Me |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 41974161 United States 09/19/2013 12:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So what its sounds like he is saying is the US cant pay bills it already owes without taking on more debt. That needed dept cant be drawn on. In household or the business world that's when you go talk to a lawyer about filing bankruptcy. Pretty obvious they are gonna bleed this pony dry. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45189860 How much of every dollar the government spends is BORROWED? I do believe we have to borrow 1.2 trillion each year to balance the books. The interest on the money is a good question! Most of the money borrowed these days is direct from the Fed. "The Tree of Liberty is Thirsty and needs Watering" -Me |

Why not a 50 trillion dollar debt? 100 trillion? When the amount is jnot payable, the amount may as well be nothing. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45349696 Unfortunately, you're right. In a speech at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., Obama dismissed concerns about raising the debt ceiling by noting that it'd been done so many times in the past: "Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven't been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy. All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you've already racked up, Congress. It's a basic function of making sure that the full faith and credit of the United States is preserved." Obama went on to suggest that "the average person" mistakenly thinks that raising the debt ceiling means the U.S. is racking up more debt: - See more at: [link to cnsnews.com] technically he is right, However I have no doubt he will max out our credit cards again sooner rather than later |

I read a wikipedia definition of it, but still dont get it... can anyone here break it down in lay-mans terms for me? Poche' User ID: 36958281 United States 09/19/2013 12:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's simple things like this that make me not take people seriously when they get all worked up and angrily rant about certain things. We allow such ridiculous things to happen. Someone getting venomous over an insulting word or a honked horn.. Yet that same person may hear a politician lie and just say "Oh well they all do that." If you can brush off a politician not representing the people, why do you not brush off minor inconveniences. Angry over a parking spot or wait in line... Make excuses for a lying official because he wears blue instead of red.. And vice versa. We are clearly insane as a people. There is no consistency. Somehow the acceptance of that has made me content. Now I can laugh and make a joke out of just about everything. That makes me happy. Join me. It's fun! They say that if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. They also say that history is written by the victorious. What I have learned from history is that the recorded accounts of humanity's past are nearly always manipulated for the benefit of the current ruling power's agenda. Put faith in your own personal history, or submit to the future of another's. |

With that being said, the only reason to increase the debt ceiling is so you can spend more and the US is broke so based on that increasing the debt ceiling will increase our debt. |
