Wildthing User ID: 34107807 United States 10/26/2013 11:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | saw this last night in the NW sky....I've seen it before too, over the past several years. I had to walk out back of my house to get into my car, I noticed it was there again. My husband was waiting around front in his car (I had to return a rental car). So on the way home, we're both in the same car and I asked if he had his camera and tripod in the car. He said yes and asked why. I told him about this blinking light. So we pulled around back, it was still there, got out of the car, and it was gone! That fast! Never saw it again last night. It was cloudy out earlier tonight, I'm going out to check again right now. If I see anything, I'll take a pic and post it. Thanks for the vid. BTW...does it feel like it's almost "watching" you? I kinda get that feeling. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 48912288 United Kingdom 10/26/2013 11:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is this the same thing that people are repeatedly reporting seeing? Also, didn't watch the whole thing, 17 minutes is a bit long to look at a twinkling dot even if it is the best footage so far, but did you point your camera at Venus during this video? Will be easier to convince some of the naysayers if you swing over to Venus and anything else this is being passed off as. |

It's not directly west, but slightly NW. It gives the appearance of "setting" but that's just the earth spinning on its axis. It seems to be on a direct course somewhere.... where? who knows? Possibly here... possibly the sun... it's anyone's guess. inre: to it watching, it seemed to interact with us when it grew larger. Coincidence? Perhaps, but perhaps not :) |

Originally, I thought it was but it's not because this is further north of the other anomaly. Also, this one changes color and shapes |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 44768276 Canada 10/27/2013 12:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ugh.. this is what got me into astronomy. I ended up finding out it was a star the whole time. This time of the year with the colder air and the heat rising off the planet, if there is a brighter start near the horizon even upwards of 45 degrees you'll get this effect. I would go out the nights afterward and see it regularly. Go get an app that points out stars or something you'll see its just one of the brighter mag starts flashing different colors. Trust me. I've seen real ufo's and this is just a normal thing. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 19779462 United States 10/27/2013 12:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I didn't want to do this...but here goes.. I've seen that in NH. Weirdly, despite the distinct "Western" description, I saw it in the East, roughly 10pm or so. It stood out to me, as I tend to notice unusual things in the sky (low flying aircraft, typically). I can confirm the green-red-white color combos. I WILL say this....I have noticed low flying aircraft that had a bizarre light pattern that looked very much like this. The flash frequency is similar and the colors are correct. Not to rain the "aliens are coming" parade, but I think there is a real possibility we are seeing increased drone activity. I have friends in VA who confirmed aircraft flying around with an unfamiliar sound and behavior. Was low enough to confirm it was an aircraft, just an unfamiliar one. Anyone, that's my two cents from NH. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 48985903 United States 10/27/2013 12:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been reading about this and seeing video of it here and there but last night I saw it with 2 friends. We checked it out with binoculars and wow what a colorful show! Don't know what it is? My gut feeling is it is a way off bright star that due to it's place in the sky has a lot more of our atmosphere to cut through for us to see and the light is somehow going through a prism effect? Whatever it is it is cool! |

I took a video of Venus, yes definately Venus, which showed it to cycle through the rainbow colors and appeared to pulse and create a type of aura/coma in the process. Whether this is due to atmospheric conditions or camera pecularities is difficult to ascertain, so yes we definately need to eliminate Venus from the observations because it's just too similar. |

On In5D, I give a screen show from Stellarium showing how there is no star there. When I recorded this several nights ago, I also shown on SkEye how there are no stars in this vicinity. Perhaps next time, you'll watch the video before commenting? |

zacksavage User ID: 17651048 United States 10/27/2013 12:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That video is 17 and a half minutes long! Can you put up a screenshot or something? I really don;t want to devote 17 minutes of my life to some video of a pulsing light. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45746949 It is actually worth it to hear what the passers by have to say and see the thing apparently expanding. Anonymous Coward User ID: 28125019 Canada 10/27/2013 12:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, when you focus right in on it near the end it looks as though it has no physical mass to it, more of an orb than any craft or ship. Thanks for the post OP. Quoting: GlobalTez great, if it's an orb then it can't impact us like an asteroid could. I personally think these glowing orbs in the sky are the sparks that can create life on our planet. |

Stars above a certain brightness will appear to move and change size, as well as rapidly change color. Go look it up if you don't believe me. That's really all it is. I see it every night and have for as long as I've been alive. |
