It is a wonder we ever get anything done. If we signed leases in the Gulf of Mexico today it will take us 15 years to have any production, yet China can sign a lease and start producing within 3 years. It pisses me off! IF they ever move a rig in to the Gulf of Mexico, it will be interesting to see if they actually get or find any oil... more to extraction than saying you are going to do it. ALL the companies in the world that KNOW HOW TO DO THIS are US companies... even the russians use american drillers for the hard wells. and the chinese have NO DRILL SHIPS only platforms that can operate in costal shelf areas plus that particular gets nailed by 4 or 5 hurricanes a YEAR. yea right let me see the chinese pull that one off... REAL DRILLER are American look it up... find me ONE competitor that is not western... saying you are going to do it and ACUTALLY pulling off aare TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS |

Enigma User ID: 6892 United States 06/08/2006 12:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | what amazes me is REALLY how clueless you guys are... all the drilling companies thatKNOW HOW to do this are american... WE own the drilling rigs, invented the technology and can teach them how to run the platforms AFTER the wells are in... go look up all the oil wells in the world that are producting and see who brought them in whith what technology? american we build the rigs we engineer the platforms we put the holes in the ground we lay the pipelines we REFINE the crude the current prices have more to do with refinery capacity and the MARKETS than the ability to bring oil in being... we haven't gieven away ANYTHING.. WE ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN consistently DO IT ! there are only about 100 directional drilling rigs in the world all made and operated by american companies oh yes our "customer" might be the Saudi's or this govt or the nigerians or what ever podunk county WE FIND THE OIL IN but Americans have to go and drill the wells put the infrastructure in and THEN teach the locals how to OPERATE it... don't believe me? then do a little research and come back and tell me different oh yes and the Brits are pretty good to... Norwegians have som geek as well... Russians can make ancient land rigs work but all the SERIOUS drilling platforms in the sea of ohutsk are amercian companies drilling for russia. then once the wells are capped in and the pipleines are laid... THEN they get some oil.. whose ROV's do you think is doing all that work on the bootom of the ocean? americans what about the divers welding underwater and living in a deep water bell for weeks at a time?>? american and some russian it is a VERY small world when it comes to making the oil patch work and AMERICA RULES why are gas prices high? cuz TPTB want them that high to extract a little wealth dat's why and THAT aint no Enigma |

If the enviro nuts have this locked up in a legal battle, these American companies will just collect their money from China and provide the technology and drillers to do this. Why would they sit on their hands and do nothing when there is oil/money to be had. I seriously doubt whether these drilling companies care who's paying them. Don't Judge Me, Monkey. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 82605 United States 06/08/2006 04:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are you all forgetting that technology is eventually for all? The poster that thinks that America has the dibs on the oil rig digging technology just make me laugh. Also, don't forget about the humongous debt that we owe to China. Why do you think Bush treads so carefully around N. Korea? I'm with the 2nd poster. |

Skullchkn User ID: 102726 United States 06/08/2006 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Anyone happen to key in on the notion that China own's the rights to Panama canal and these oil rigs or drilling platforms can have more than 1 use. Good excuse to have Chinese vessels in the area very near our southern borders. Possibility of intentional conflict? There is development of air bases and such in the area for China's use not to mention the overwhelming influx of Chinese occupation of several key areas due south of us. Part of a really big trojan horse? Who knows, just for a bit of thought provocation! |
