Please take a moment to write. You know that the public relations companies paid to promote the war will be sending plenty of negative emails and we need to counter them.

The Hawaii State Senate has passed a resolution "CALLING UPON THE GOVERNOR OF HAWAII TO TAKE STEPS TO WITHDRAW THE HAWAII ARMY AND AIR NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS FROM IRAQ." The resolution is a thing of beauty, has been mailed to the Governor and the President, and the PDF can be read here.

Both houses of Hawaii's legislature are set to vote on a resolution "REQUESTING THE ADJUTANT GENERAL OF THE HAWAII NATIONAL GUARD TO PROVIDE MEMBERS AND VETERANS OF THE ARMED FORCES HEALTH SCREENING FOR DEPLETED URANIUM EXPOSURE AND TO REPORT ON THE SCOPE AND ADEQUACY OF DEPLETED URANIUM STORAGE AND DISPOSAL IN HAWAII." This resolution, too, seems like a good model for other states. Here's the text.

Citizens of Hawaii who have promoted these steps include Karin Gill and Marsha Joyner of CODE PINK, Ann Wright who retired from the diplomatic service in protest the day the war began, Irradiated Veterans, and Life of the Land.

You beat me to the post by two minutes.
All of Lebanon will be liberated including Shebba Farms, along with Golan, and the West Bank, and Gaza.

Then Israel can have peace.

It's pointless and nothing more than posturing.

The president can federalize the national guards and there is nothing that can be done.

Like I say, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.

Those who believe the national guards are militias are sadly mistaken.

You can read the bad news in the appropirately named Dick Act of 1905, which formalizes the national guard and transfers control to the federal, or excuse me, national government.

If you are in such support of this illegal war brought about by lies from our president and his lackeys looking for profits, then why aren't you over in Iraq?

New hampshire?...Vermont maybe would be dumb enough to send a pointless bill like this to the legislature, but not NH...

Who pays for a state's National Guard troops? The state or the feds? If it is the state, then that state stil has ultimate control over their troops. Can't send 'em anywhere if they have no food, no gasoline, no supplies. Whoever controls the pursestrings controls the army.
