In South Korea, US government civilians, US contractors and US military all have a good population of Freemasons. The higher they get the more corrupt they get. It's great to have a "mens club" but when you bring that into the work place and promote your under qualified 'brothers' over more qualified individuals it's wrong. Most of the 33rd degree Freemasons I know are seriously corrupt liers, double talkers or just plain lazy. They lie so much that they actually believe their lies. Then they get one of their underlings to back up their lies. I've met a lot of good Freemasons as well. They're not corrupt and don't use the Freemason to advance themselves or their 'brother' just because they're freemasons (the way it should be). I also know another 33rd degree freemason and a grandmaster who got out because of the corruptness. Freemasons might be good in the states but here in S.Korea it seems like there isn't a real oversight to see how corrupt things are. I know a 33rd degree freemason who has personnaly ruined 4 peoples lives and their families lives because of the bold face lies this freemason and his underling made up. To me, and a lot of other non-freemasons, ex-33rd degree and grand master freemasons (independent people) the freemasons will always be a lieing, corrupt, cult of an organization. Whenever I see a freemason symbol on somebodys car or desk, I think they are brainwashed and possibly corrupt. That's what the freemasons accomplished in my life and many others.

I am not a freemason but have done my research. You say you have been invited to join. Any freemason knows they are FORBIDDEN to invite people, people must join of their own free will BECAUSE much of Freemasonry is about masonic labor which often takes the form of doing the work to improve oneself. Freemasonry says ,"We Make Good Men Better, We Don't Try To Make Bad Men Good." You are clearly in the latter catagory, so I don't think any mason believes you when you say you have been begged to join. I lend out my jetski's and speed boat to help provide more entertainment for the single soliders at the summer beach blast parties. I help organize ski trips to Japan during the winter for soliders. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management and I'm working on my MBA. I've been promoted 4 times in the last 6 years. I have a beautiful wife and 2 wonderful kids. I own 3 houses, one in NOVA, one in NC and one here in S.Korea... even though I'm losing money on the NOVA and NC house. The council of deliberation orient of korea saw the things I've done and asked me if I ever thought about joining the freemasons. To me, that's the same as asking me to join.. no matter how you look at it. Not just once either, many times. I've been invited and attended their "off the clock" get togethers, their way of trying to encourage me to join.

Forget the double, triple dog dares.. (lets leave that for my kids) I challenge you to push yourself half as much as I did and get results. I don't come from a wealthy family. My father was enlisted in the military and his father was poor with 12 kids. It's wonderful when you start thinking for yourself, acting on YOUR own beliefs. You get true, real results.

I do not doubt that there are corrupt masons. There have been many corrupt Popes. There are over 80,000 masons in california right now. Some are bound to be bad apples. As to the Masons where you are soliciting for membership, they may belong to what is known as an irregular lodge, which is one who used to have a charter from the head honchos but had it revoked for not following rules like soliciting membership, or getting politically involved or such. There are many lodges that are no longer recognized by the legitimate freemasons. P2 in Rome is a perfect example.

I called the GL of every form of masonry in Il and none, I repeat none of them have any record of knowledge of him being a member of the craft. They would love to say that he was and there would be pictures some lodges have fb pages.

If you are so inclined call them your self search -- grand lodge of Illinois. The numbers are posted on the sites and then call them and ask.
