Monsanto, and its colleagues such as DuPont, Dow, and Novartis, have all in recent years created “life sciences” divisions as they enter the world of agribusiness. Monsanto has been particularly aggressive in its pursuit of agbiotech dominance, not only in terms of developing genetically engineered seed but also in acquiring seed companies. DDT, PCBs, Agent Orange-looks nothing like orage juice... USDA, the FDA, and the EPA have shifted or bypassed regulatory standards in their zeal to support these firms and their new technologies. ShadowDancer (OP) User ID: 101 United States 03/11/2005 11:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In 1995, when Roundup Ready soybeans were still in development, Monsanto successfully petitioned the EPA to raise the safe and allowable levels of glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) in soybeans from 6 parts per million to 20 PPM – what was considered “safe” for human consumption in 1987 was more than tripled eight years later. Because the soybean can withstand unlimited doses of Roundup, use of the herbicide has increased in many fields where these soybeans are planted. In 1997, 15 percent of America’s soybean crop came from Roundup Ready seed; by 1998 that figure was up to 38 percent. Currently, Monsanto has supplied Roundup Ready seed for nearly 60 percent of the American crop. The company’s stated goal was to control 100 percent of the soybean crop in America by the year 2000. This will not smooth over our disenfranchised ´allies´ who have all but left... JUST TOO REAL Awareness about this important issue is growing in America. Already we are cultivating genetically engineered soy, cotton, corn, rapeseed (canola), potatoes, tomatoes, and squash, and there are many other plant varieties in development. Given the accelerated pace at which genetic engineering technology is moving, those who believe a more prudent and public approach is warranted need to speak up now, and help to educate others. If you value “clean” food and your right to choose those foods, if you are concerned about ecological balance and sustainable farming practices, if you love to garden and want to have a wide variety of seed choice or the ability to save your seed, or if you feel inherently opposed to forced breeding between species, it is important to make your views known and your voice heard. The EU has already started caving in on this matter. (There was something in the media about GM maize on "try-out" the other day - sorry, no link.) I hope the ecologically minded farmers keep their wits about them long enough to resist this and protect their seed banks. I don´t really know how all that works, though. ShadowDancer (OP) User ID: 101 United States 03/11/2005 02:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Older info Landmark lawsuit against the FDA As executive director of the Alliance for Bio-Integrity, Steven Druker is the co-ordinating attorney in a landmark lawsuit against the FDA calling for the withdrawal of all genetically engineered foods in the USA until they have gone through adequate safety tests, and the subsequent labelling of all GE foods. The lawsuit has been filed by an unprecedented coalition of public interest organisations, eminent life scientists, and seventeen mainstream religious leaders. The International Center for Technology Assessment, which is supporting the lawsuit, says the quality and breadth of the 26 plaintiffs is without precedent in their long experience of such cases of litigation. The plaintiffs are using official US government papers to show how the FDA claimed GMOs were safe in the face of broad disagreement from its own experts. The FDA was required to provide over 40,000 pages of internal documents during the lawsuit. For example, when the FDA approved the "flavr savr" tomato, which has also been sold in British supermarkets, it did so ignoring statements from its own scientists that tests involving feeding the tomato to rats led to a pattern of stomach lesions that raised a safety issue and therefore failed to confirm that it was safe for human consumption. Safety testing of subsequent GMOs has been even less stringent and in many cases non-existent. "Every genetically engineered food in the US is on the market illegally and should be recalled immediately for rigorous safety testing," Mr Druker says. "The FDA has deliberately unleashed a host of potentially harmful foods onto American dinner tables, in blatant violation of US law, in order to promote the interests of the biotech industry. Based on systematic misrepresentation, the US set improper standards for the release of GMOs. Britain and many other countries have largely followed the US, without knowledge of the facts." Warning to British Government Mr Druker is in the UK to present his case to the Government and to agricultural leaders. At the end of last week he gave a special presentation to MPs at the House of Commons, at the invitation of Alan Simpson, MP, and also had a private meeting with Michael Meacher, Minister of State for the Environment. He was joined for the presentations by Professor Terje Traavik, scientific advisor to the Norwegian government and one of the world´s leading experts in viruses and horizontal gene transfer. Prof. Traavik warned the British Government that the recombinant DNA technologies used to develop all of the GMOs on the market today are so imprecise and unpredictable that they do not even deserve to be called a technology. He said that recent research indicates that artificial genetic material released into the environment through agricultural, medical and industrial applications can be incorporated into the genetic material of the cells of all species, including our own. This process, called horizontal gene transfer, is already known to create new viruses and bacteria that cause diseases and to lead to harmful mutations, cancers, and acute toxic shock and autoimmune responses. [link to www.heartland.org] issId=2&istId=201 Druker´s Anti-Biotech Themes Druker argues the following points: 1. Genetic engineering is inherently riskier than traditional breeding. 2. Transplanted genes act independently of the host organism´s intricate control system. 3. Foreign genes enter the host DNA haphazardly and disrupt the region into which they enter. 4. There is mounting evidence of genetically engineered (GE) plants with substantial and unexpected alterations in chemical composition. 5. There have been suspicious changes in laboratory animals that consume GE foods. 6. GE foods contain unique hazards. 7. The government has allowed GE foods to be marketed without testing. 8. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) falsely claims expert consensus regarding the safety of GE foods. 9. A large portion of human foodborne illness develops over a long time through repeated doses of harmful substances. All choices have consequences, choose wisely, CHOOSE WISELY. |

Soylent Green Starring Charlton Heston, Edward G. Robinson MGM/UA Home Video Rated PG 97 minutes Color 1973 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Review by Tamara I. Hladik -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In 2022, New York City is populated with 40 million people, half of whom are unemployed. The air is smoggy and sooty, and the sun bakes everything, everyday, at 90 degrees. Overpopulation and the destruction of the environment may have rendered human life cheap, but food--that is, real food--is quite expensive. A jar of real strawberry jam costs $150, if it´s available--supermarkets don´t exist anymore. The government now dispenses rations of food substances made by the Soylent corporation: Soylent Yellow, Soylent Red, and the newest product, Soylent Green. But even these Soylent products are in short supply. Riot police are always dispatched when Soylent is distributed, because violence kicks in when the food runs out. Thorn (Heston) is a member of this modern, beleaguered police force, which pilfers every crime scene for the necessities of life. When Thorn is called in to investigate the death of a Soylent Corporation executive, his take is a treasure trove: a towel, a bar of soap, paper, and some real food--celery, a couple of apples, and half a pound of beef. But what at first seems to Thorn a clumsy robbery soon seems a highly-managed assassination. But ironically, it is the death of Thorn´s aging friend, Sol (Robinson), one of the few who still remembered what food was, what plenty meant, that cracks the case and unmasks a conspiracy. It is only through Sol´s death that Thorn understands what the world has lost and what it has become... Dystopia, euthanasia and all the rest Soylent Green is a basic, cautionary tale of what could become of humanity physically and spiritually if it doesn´t nurture the planet that nurtures it. There is little in this film that has not been seen in its brethren: faceless, oppressive crowds; sheep mentality; the corrosion of the soul, of imagination, of collective memory. Quirkily enough, Soylent Green often succeeds despite its director, whose tendency is to overuse Charlton Heston to illustrate every nuance of this dystopia. Ironically, the film´s most powerful moments do not belong to Heston, who makes a dubious, ambiguous hero. It is Robinson who lays claim to the most moving passages of the film. As Sol he speaks frequently throughout the film of what the planet was like, and he sounds like any old-timer of any generation. But in this bleak future, as one of the few who remembers, he is the film´s conscience and soul. When Sol finally succumbs to despair and relinquishes himself to a government euthanasia center, Thorn sees glimpses of the Earth´s lost legacy. In his world, the average person only sees blue skies and green forests via canned video during their last 20 minutes of life in a government euthanasia center. The film definitely has its moments, when its imagery is powerful and haunting. The sight of inexorably rolling front-loaders indiscriminately scooping up masses of squirming humanity from the streets is as powerful as anything else the film has to say. Mostly, though, the profundity of humanity´s transformation is dealt with in less than a masterful manner. This theme has been conducted better by others. One of my favorite scenes was when Sol goes to the Exchange, one of the last crippled vestiges of democracy left in the city. There he has a terrific scene with Celia Lovsky (who played the Vulcan matriarch T´Pau in Amok Time). As the elderly, as people who have living knowledge of what was, they are us, and bridge the gap between now and this possible future. -- Tamara Z Free your mind,...your ass will follow. --- parliament funkadelic |

The part where it talks about the Plagues in Europe in the Middle Ages, very note worthy is that just prior to the outbreaks, the townspeople would observe strange lights, UFO activity in their local sky, followed by sightings of the "Grim Reaper" in their fields. Of course this character wasn´t actually "reaping" but the swishing motion back and forth of his arm as he walked through the rows of their crops, was an activity that to their mind was associated with REAPING. The wearing of the hooded robe was to obscure his non-human appearance as he SPRAYED PLAGUE VIRUS on their food crops. The image of the Grim Reaper now lives on as part of the story board of the collective consciousness, with all but a very few, aware of the true origins of this image.. <><><><> A security guard at a supposedly non functioning factory belonging to Dupont and situated in a remote place, spoke of a UFO craft being housed there, and during the time period when it was a productive site, more than one employee claimed that the Head guy there had anomalous powerful and unpleasant abilites. As he would stroll down the aisles overseeing their work, etc... he occassionally would choose one particular worker to pause in front of. This one employee in particular had gone through some torturous abuse at some point in his past. This was a buried secret in him. When the boss stopped in front of him, he locked eyes with the man and PLUMBED THE DEPTHS of his psyche, stirring and summoning up this memory of extreme pain within the man....and kept looking at him as the man was brought to the point of tears. The boss then smiled sadistically, broke his gaze away, and moved on. <<< !! VIVE LA RESISTANCE !! >>> |

Let´s look into the primary reason. If these foods are to alter us genetically, there is a reason. Maybe we can see the results by looking at filled doctors´ offices, clinics, hospitals. So many are having health problems and don´t know why. They range anywhere from the flu to internal health disease, most suffering from alimentary problems. All of the money that goes into pharmacies, medical bills, and ultimately, the undertaker is sucking this country dry. The object of these franken foods may well be to dull the already dulled senses, causing us to become docile and ready to allow TPTB have sway over every facet of our lives without protest, their goal. They have all of the world´s wealth, so it´s not for money they do this. Monsanto and their ilk can take the statistics to the heads of other governments, with the results produced from these franken foods, in order to entice them to allow such for their own citizens.
