Original Message The CERN just tweeted that the LHC is ready to finally do what it is built for after a long series of delays. Tomorrow, March 30th, 8:30am, the LHC will start to colliding particles.
The LHC (Large Hadron Collider) is set to generate collisions at 7 TeV (3.5 TeV per beam). TeV stands for Tera electron volt and is a measure of energy. An eV unit of energy equal to approximately 1.602×10−19 J. More details on Wikipedia.

CERN does not know when exactly they will actually detect a collision. As soon as it happens they will hold a media event and offer a live webcast.
I am not sure if still some Earthlings believe that this will be the end of the world, but in any case we had a fun ride.
