[quote:Nick the Greek 7595965:MV8xMDI4NTA1XzI5NTYyMDQ3Xzg5RTZCODA4] Instead of taking from the Greeks...poaching aspects from their cultural heritage, it would be much wiser for FYRoM to take a good long hard look, at what it is they really want to achieve. If FYRoM wants to establish connections back to antiquity, it is going about it in the wrong way because the land they inhabit is not Macedonian teritory but ancient Paeonian teritory, so it becomes difficult to associate FYRoM with ancient Macedonia when they have no earthly connections to, or natural relationship with the lands or peoples of Macedonia proper.FYRoM is Not Macedonia in the ancient geographic sense.FYRoM uses the Macedonia(n) name inappropriately because they are not Macedonian in the Greek sense of that word. If one wanted to be precise, what we actually have here is a place known in classical antiquity as Paeonia, which is inhabited by SouthSlavic people speaking a Serbo-Bulgarian language. In reality FYRoM's ex-Yugoslavs should be called Paeonians...Serbo-Bulgarian speaking Paeonians from Paeonia rather than Macedonian speaking Macedonians from Macedonia. In either case, they are Not real or proper Macedonians, at least, not in the Greek sense of that word! FYRoM's supposed Macedonian Identity is confusing and problematic because it conflicts with the cultural heritage of the Greeks and clashes with academia over what is already known about Macedonians. Global politicians and the International academic fraternity are not ready to accept FYRoM's ex-Yugoslavs as Macedonians when they know, the heir's and Inheritor's of Alexander the Great's legacy are the modern Greeks not FYRoM's ex-Yugoslavs. Todays Greeks are the sole and legal modern representatives of the Hellenic legacy, it includes Alexander the Great and the ancient Macedonians from antiquity. No other modern people in the Balkans or on this planet are closer to the ancient Macedonians than todays modern Greeks. FYRoM's reasons and motives for wanting to use a Greek-Hellenic name to describe their new Slavic country, their nationality, language and ethnicity remain suspicious and little understood. The International community is neither persuaded nor convinced that the Macedonian name is the most appropriate for a new Slavic speaking country to adopt when there are more suitable Slavic names out there to chose from. Is it true.....Alexander the Great was not Macedonian Greek
but Slavik from Slavdoms SouthSlavic collective of peoples.
