Original Message I have just been informed by my wife today, that as of 2 weeks ago. ALL banks in Mexico no longer accept U.S. Dollars (USD) in exchange for Mexican pesos (MXN).

She was told that this is from a directive from the Mexican central bank, as they wish to protect their banking system from currency fluctuation, money laundering, etc.

But the long and the short of it is that she COULD NOT exchange her surplus USD at ANY main stream bank in Mexico. (not HSBC, not Banamex, and not BBVA)

Why?? I do not know why. All they would say is that they had received this directive!

So, just what is going on here?

Sorry there is no MSM link, this is only based on what my wife was told today when trying to exchange USD in a main stream bank in Mexico!!!!!
