Original Message So, I met my wife and daughter at Ryan's near my office for lunch as we sometimes do.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Typical lunchtime crowd. We got our table and took turns going to the hot-bar. Just as I was starting to eat, about 6 or 7 nicely dressed, older (50's and 60's) men got a table really close to ours.

We live in a fairly small town and I'm not from here, so I don't know (or care) who the local hot-shots are. My wife, however, was born and raised here and she starts whispering who these guys are: Judge so-and-so, Commisioner what's-his-name and a few lawyers.

I could care less about them and their ilk, but she seems to be impressed by socialites. Whatever.

Anyway, after getting salads and chicken or whatever, they started talking. I didn't care about their conversation at all until I heard 'Atlas Shrugged'. Then my ears perked up because I've read that book and I've seen it discussed here several times.

Typical book discussion and it was obvious the majority of the group had read it. Some liked it, some didn't, but one started comparing it to what's going on in the world today. What was really interesting about that is that the rest of them seemed surprised by that statement. One of them in particular was sarcastic about the remark and said, "Oh yeah, just like Bush ushered in 1984".

The one who made the original statement said, "No, you don't get it. The world today is very much like Rand's world in 'Atlas Shrugged' in that there are not many quote unquote 'law-abiding citizens', which keeps you and I in business. The majority of our laws were MEANT to be broken so the people can be kept within the confines of the system. Think about it, if there were no quote-unquote 'Victimless Crimes', we would all be out of work."

At that, I got a little light-headed and wondered if I may be dreaming, because I've been spouting the same thing for years, but to hear it come right out of the horses mouth was a bit surreal.

*Anyway, for me, it was total validation of my feelings toward TPTB and the way they intentionally manipulate the masses and the law to their own ends. This guy said it plain as day. Even more curious was that it was as if the underlings had not even thought about it that way. These are the supposed 'Elite' and they're waking up to it (on the wrong side, sure, but still waking up). Who is pulling their strings?
