Creating a race to mine for you sounds pretty convoluted and a lot more tedious than some of the other options available. [/quote] well, assuming the theory is correct I would think that developing a bio engineered species that reproduced on its own would be cheaper than developing and producing a robot work force to do the same task. this is assuming they even had the advanced AI to do such a thing, we still struggle with the concept of AI, yet have explored DNA to some extend. anyway the idea is pretty flawed in general, imagine an ET race, coming to earth to mine, but they come here unprepared?? unless they had studied earth in advance and knew that the the dna would be compatible and it would be cheaper than simply making AI's or using machinery? but still, they supposedly send a mining crew here to mine gold, you would assume they send someone who know how to mine and have the tools for it in the first place, it's pretty dumb to send a team to a remote planet in hopes of finding an inferior species that is compatible with your own dna, only to use them as slave labor? I mean wth "Annuaki - we might be advanced, but we aren't bright!" actually, a way it could work in theory, would be if they were here so long that the tools broke down and the guys who knew how to fix the tools died or ran out of material.
