I filled up my tank with 10% ethanol gas and took a trip mostly highway and it cost .078 per mile ($2.59 per gallon).

I filled up for the rountrip back with pure gasoline ($2.85 per gallon) and got .066 per mile. I got 100 more miles per tank (roughly 10 gallon tank) if you can believe it.

Both were mid grade fuels in 2 different states.

I really like the pure stuff better but it's getting harder and harder to find.
