[quote:bevvy:MV8xMTEzNTg2XzE5NDE1NTI5XzI3NENEQjVC] [quote:WhiteBeard 746206] I can only surmise. Based on what scant descriptions we have from the OP, This has to be one really nasty bug. 1) Able to infiltrate a high level organism despite the safeguards and defences. 2) able to infiltrate, recompose, and reprogram the DNA of other organisms. 3) able to communicate with other cells or organisms of the same creature. 4) It is affected by certain electromagnetic freuencies. for all of this to occur, it would need to 1)be able to act as a Virus to infiltrate and reprogram a microbe. That would either be in the form of direct interaction in the cell by altering the protiens that repair and construct the DNA, or by inspecting, analysing, and then constructing DNA strands to inject into the cell that would reprogram them. 2) Be basically different enough from the host mechanism that it's cell protien coats and general makeup would not be recognized or touched by the high leel organism. OR, it would need to be able to fashon defenses on the fly as needed. 3) It would have to have some characteristics of a neuron, or nerve cell, with multiple tendrills and protuberances to either do a close in chemical communications with another cell, or to be able to do the same chemical communication with all nearby cells. The latter is something that I had never thought of, but, after doing some uick analysis, could be less effective than a nearal network like the ones in our brain. On the other hand, the math shows that it could be many, many times more efficient. Then there is another concept that has been alluded to by the OP over and over. This organism has what appears to be a very strong ability to create magnetic and/or electric fields. It may have the ability to create radio waves. Any of the above could be a part of it's defences, offences, and/or communication system (neural net links) So, take it as you will. It is POTENTIALLY a very formidabe enemy. Very formidable indeed. There is no way I can see to totally stop it. Housedad, your rational and intelligent analysis of this thing is a most welcome change. I wish this thread could have dealt with the danger more objectively from the start. It is such a serious threat to the world. Thanks for rejoining the thread. But, I fear that an objective assessment is going to be an uphill battle because of some of the females who want to protect the thing. I am suddenly impressed at how bizarre this issue is becoming. The dangerous organism has been termed “antiman” by someone, so a number of female posters are jumping to its defense, probably because they share the same sentiment. It’s becoming a gender-war! The masculine instinct to protect people from harm versus the female instinct to nurture and embrace the unlovable. The image of an old wrestling match comes to mind: Tag Team match, where one wrestler leaves the ring as replaced by a partner. Kryspy out, Wuwu in. And if the men think they need to fight only the organism to save the world they discover that their protective attempts will be viciously opposed by the antiman gender, too. Rational consideration of a serious problem is forced to yield to a female embracing of serpent forces. The thought strikes me that maybe men have been too naïve in attempting to protect our world; perhaps we should stand back and let the ladies embrace the foe; maybe they’ve been protected too long. Prima Donnas? Oh, how I wish I could enjoy the humor of this and laugh. Meanwhile, I hope that more intelligent minds can pursue the line of objective analysis which you have initiated.
I'm sorry you feel that way Whitebeard, I have seen a really different side of you today and yesterday. I thought you were valid in some of your points yesterday, (though a bit harsh)...Now you are sounding like a threatened chauvinist. Why do you liken wanting a peaceful resolve with the Devil? Maybe if women had a more equal part to play in the events of this planet, we would not be in this dire situation.... Goodnight to you edit to add, the intelligent minds that have made this thread what it is also include women, or you not think we have added any input. I am so tired of the divide and conquer
