[quote:icey ice 0:MV8xMjEyNzlfMzA0MTcxMF8zNzAzRUQx] lincoln still considered the slaves as second class citizens, you know.. reality isnt as clear-cut as many of you like to believe. but if it makes you feel more in control of your existence, so be it. Just good luck dodging obstacles you dont understand in the future. [/quote]

"I cannot swallow whole the view of Lincoln as the Great Emancipator," Obama said. "As a law professor and civil rights lawyer and as an African-American, I am fully aware of his limited views on race. Anyone who actually reads the Emancipation Proclamation knows it was more a military document than a clarion call for justice."
That was Lincolnīs point. His objective was to get the emancipation through, not write a pretty peom on racial harmony you nitwit. Weīre talking about civil war here. The Northern states were not about to fight the South over slavery. Lincoln set the country on fire, as it was, because of this emancipation yet somehow thatīs not good enough for the mighty African from Illinois.
