[quote:Anonymous Coward 664728:MV8xMjc3NTM3XzI5NzA1MTIyXzY3MDk1MUQx] OP, if by "soul" you are referring to the Biblical idea, I think you would be surprised that the Bible doesn't actually use the idea in the way that you are using it in this thread The Hebrew words for "living soul" are nephesh chaiyah soul (nephesh) meaning "creature" or “breathing frame", from the verb "to breathe" living (chayiah) meaning "life" These two words are used of animals as well as humans. The word “soul” really means body, and is translated the following way in Genesis chapters 1 and 2: Genesis 1:20 "moving creature" - sea life verse 21 "living creature" - mammals verse 24 "living creature" - cattle, creeping thing, beast verse 30 "life" - beast of earth, fowl, creeping thing Genesis 2:7 "living soul" - man verse 19 "every living creature" - animal kingdom named by Adam This means that animals, fish, man and woman are all souls. SOUL The Hebrew word for "soul" is translated in the following ways: · Soul (428x) · life (119x) · person (30x) · self (19x) · heart (15x) · mind (15x) · creature (9x) · dead (8x) The following references show that the soul is not immortal, but simply relates to a person. There is nowhere in the Bible that says the soul lives on after death or goes to heaven. · A dead soul becomes a living soul Genesis 2:7 · A soul is born Genesis 46:8 · A soul eats Exodus 12:16 · A soul saved from death Psalm 56:13 · A soul dies Joshua 11:11 · A dead soul Leviticus 21:1,11 These references show that the soul involves the total person. It is not a separate, immortal part of a person. Immortality is something that has to be sought for (Romans 2:7) and is only given at the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:53,54). The immortality of the soul is a pagan Greek idea - the Bible teaches resurrection. A summary of Bible teaching on the soul: All souls die Ezekiel 18:4 Even righteous souls die Isaiah 53:12 There is NO hope of life apart from the resurrection 1 Corinthians 15:16-1 http://yithron.blogspot.co.nz/2011/09/death-wages-of-sin.html [/quote]
Ian Pearson is a British futurist, cybernetic expert and artificial intelligence researcher.
Some experts say downloading all recorded memories from a brain will be happening before 2020.
If this is being talked about in Public Field it's probably already active underground, don't you think? Because the Mil. is usually at least 40 years ahead of the curve.
Has anyone seen Caprica or Battlestar Galactica?
Caprica is the beginning of the Cylons. They are created the exact same way, by downloading all the memories of an individual into a computer that then turns the memories into an Avatar. This creates a spark of life and turns the Cylons into living beings.
The Digital Immortality Institue (DII) is researching this now.
Anders Sandberg a member of the new transhuman movement (Beyond Human), believes uploading minds and downloading them into new bodies is imminent.
So Cloned bodies with Artificial Intelligence = New Human / Super Human.
This is some incredible technology really. Think about it, cloned bodies with immunities to almost everything, no defects, then downloaded memories combined with new memories / software. The new brain would have a direct connection to the BORG via Wifi.
Another Transhumanist, Al Yudkowky is convinced this technology must be developed befofre a group or gov. with evil intentions does it first.
Do you guys think this is a good idea?
