Jan - Major snowstorms hit the UK, 2nd coldest Jan on record.
Feb - Economic and political instability in the UK due to budget cuts, continues into march, national strikes become a problem, continues into march, general election called.
Mar - as above, but similar instability in France, Spain, Portugal and Ireland.
Apr - Labour win general election.
May - Major earthquake in Japan, high 6, say like a 6.8 or 6.9.
June - Visible planetary phenomena in the sky, distant supernova?, not an issue, but causes panic.
July - North Korea issue again, but no war.
Aug - Major heatwave in US, dozens of people die. Huge fires.
Sept - Very famous movie director dies in suspicious circumstances.
Oct - Charles Manson dies in prison.
Nov - China put another man in space.
Dec - Major snow in europe again.
