[quote:Weltsmertz:MV8xMzUzOTQzXzIyMzMyMDAxXzMzRTNEMUYw] [quote:GodFrequency] [quote:Anonymous Coward 637053] [quote:Anonymous Coward 744051] Couldn't have happened to a nicer group of guys.
So you knew these guys, did you? Knew their families, and the devestation they must face now. You know, while "bankers" have been demonized and hated by so many on this forum, I am so sick of the ill-placed and ignorant sentiment. Granted, there are slime everywhere, but the bulk of us in the financial industry are no different from yourself, and we are truly here to "make it work.". We've been blessed with the opportunity to navigate this insanity on everyone's behalf, and while many of us might be well compensated to do so, the idiocy behind so many of these statements I see is unfathomable. Most of us have children like yourself, and want the best for them - like yourself. The financial system is deep and complex (and changing daily), and simply because some of us are in a position to help manage it better than othere doesn't mean that we are all scum. In fact, most of us are driven, hard working individuals with a goal of ensuring that the system continues to work for all of us unabated. Today's pervasive sentiment, however, is precisely what will kill it, and eventually usher in an era that will make you (or at least your kids) wish you had held your tongue. I guess what I am saying is that you really need to have strong substance behind your statements before making them. So, if you do, please elaborate. Otherwise, STFU.
Thats nice, and while I agree that stereotyping is a bad thing...the reality is the banking industry has screwed most of us in one way or another...all of us if you just consider the bailout and what has come of that money which was yours, mine and everyones in the USA. But I will apologize first...so I am sorry....but just because one has a family and kids does not mean one gets off the hook for bad things one does. I don't give a flying rats ass if the Executives for JP Morgan have families and want the best for them "JUST LIKE ME", that fact does not sway my sentiment towards the individuals that work for a corrupt, pillaging engine like JP MORGAN. If a man walks into a business and holds a gun to the business workers head and demands all the money (just trying to do right for his KIDS and FAMILY..he wants the best for them) and then gets shot dead by the cops or gets run over in traffic during the escape are you gonna whine about his family? Probably not, but oh wait he was committing a crime and not "doing his job!" If you commit crime WHILE doing your job, its different you get sympathy for your loved ones. So if a Banking executive convinces a young couple to sign a mortgage HE KNOWS is too steep for them to pay, by giving them a low rate now and an 'adjusted rate' later because the FORMULA tells the banker based on this mans education, age, etc...in 10 years he will make enough to pay the new rate. And he uses the man's FAMILY to convince him he should get this house! He needs it, after all...the buyer wants what is best for his family..and so does the BANKER, who wants the MONEY he is making by dolling out mortgages he KNOWS people won't be able to pay. Flash ahead ten years, Banker guy is rich, having closed many mortgages; now he gets to tell most of those people he can't help them save that home those people NEED for their families... because doing so in any way would result in a loss for the BANK and the Banker dude does not want that, he has a FAMILY he wants what is best for them...so the other guys FAMILY be damned! And then the banking industry is going under because of the bullshit mess they made with bad practices that padded their pockets and feed and got what was BEST FOR THEIR FAMILIES and the GOVERNMENT takes MY MONEY, YOUR MONEY, and the Young Couple Guy's money to give the banks money to stay afloat and they do NOT use it to rework millions of mortgages like they said they would, they do not use it to give out many more small business low interest loans to bolster the economy.. THEY JUST DON'T, but what they do is write themselves BIG CHECKS for themselves because after all THEY HAVE FAMILIES and WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM, and they did work hard in the system to keep it afloat and they are "better equipped than others" to do so and they "do want to make the system work fairly for all"; JUST NOT IF IT MEANS SACRIFICING ANYTHING FOR THEMSELVES OR THEIR FAMILIES. SO here is Banker Dude, misrepresented the original loan in order to convince young couple guy to sign, did that repeatedly and made money, stole our tax dollars for a bonus after probably foreclosing on nearly all the loans he wrote by using handy dandy Fraudulent fake signature and banking practices to get the foreclosures thru court...probably tossed in a few that were not to be foreclosed on because, well, he could and thats more money for him...CLEARLY CRIMINAL behavior....JUST as bad as the guy with the GUN (maybe worse since Banker Dude affected more people), but he gets a pass because he was doing his job and has a FAMILY? I am certain there are MILLIONS of FAMILIES tonight when they hear the news who will have a moment of joy and smile when they learn of the fate of the JP MORGAN executives. Sure, they may pause and contemplate the loss for their FAMILIES, but it will be fleeting and in the end will enjoy the the knowledge that sometimes in this world people GET WHAT THEY HAVE COMING! Lastly, I don't get to read the biography or the work history of every 'banker' I meet. Therefore, I make educated guesses about the type of person a banker is based on other bankers I have met, what I know about bankers, what I know about the banking industry etc. If a banking executive does not like being stereotyped as an evil-money-raping-self-centered-cut-throat-bastard then perhaps he should review for whom he works, what he does, and who is signing his paychecks.
