[quote:Anonymous Coward 711796:MV8xMzYzNjQ3XzIyNTAyNjg3XzgwMzMwMTYy] [quote:tomasgod1] [quote:Anonymous Coward 711671] At around 1.30am GMT this morning i saw the faintest aurora in west ireland!! It was observed because all of a sudden my cat woke up miaowing her head off...then the dogs in the valley were barking...as i opened my window, i also heard pidgeons cooing. I saw faint greenish lines across the sky moving from north to south...and clouds moving from west to east...under the fullish moonlight. Gorgeous!! Now it's rainy and windy..
Thats really neat! It's great that it stayed nice long eneough for you to get a chance to see it. I am jealous!
I wanted to photograph it to post here but it was faint and i would have had to leave the shutter open - so it would've looked blurry..the moonlight would have interferred too much aswell...also i was snuggly in bed and didn't wanna get up and out in the cold hahaaa.. I'm going to have a look tonight aswell and set up a tripod just in case. :afro:
The calm before the storm. Three CMEs are enroute, all a part of the Radio Blackout events on February 13, 14, and 15 (UTC). The last of the three seems to be the fastest and may catch both of the forerunners about mid to late day, February 17. Watch this space [

The calm before the storm is right....eerily so! I have rarely seen all of the monitors frome ACE, to GOES, so quiet. It reminds me of the tide sucking out before a tsumami.
