[quote:Oklahoma:MV8xMzY4NDIzXzIyNTY2MTgxXzg2OTE5QjIw] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1236460] [quote:Oklahoma] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1236460] Probably with salt and pepper. Just kidding. I have no pets. I read a story once about WWII I believe. Somewhere in Russia, people were starving, lots of nasty stuff going on. Apparently soldiers came upon a sad scene. There was a cat that had been killed and was ready to be eaten by it's owner. The owner of the cat, who was starving, couldn't live with the fact that he had killed his cat so he decided to kill himself by hanging. The rope snapped and he fell and broke his leg badly. He died of exposure instead. Always stuck in my head as terribly sad. Not the kind of situation people with full bellies should be speculating about. Just hope you never find yourself needing to eat a pet. If some of the facts of that story are wrong, I apologize, been a long time since I read it.
I've read similar. Allot of tragic things happen. In the end, life doesn't care.. it just happens. I think people should think about it... because it does happen. It doesn't have to... but SOMETHING will have to motivate people to avoid that history.
When I mentioned not speculating, I didn't mean that I wouldn't under terrible circumstances do distasteful things to preserve my life. I would do whatever was necessary. Knowing that I'll do what needs to be done is enough for me. I can't dwell on specific acts while I've got a full stomach is all. I've thought plenty though, believe me. I agree that it doesn't have to happen again but most likely will. Sad that we know whats happened in the past and seem ready to repeat it all over again. Of course the history books, though written by the winners, are full of repetition.
I know, and they all show the same cycle of a power, and one with too much technology, and too few people who cared for the blessing under their feet.
