[quote:NiNzrez:MV8xMzgyOTUyXzI3OTU4NjEzXzk3MDVGOTBB] This is the new update i just added to the 2nd post on the very 1st page of this thread if i may have missed anything, please let me know :) [quote:NiNzrez:MV8xMzgyOTUyXzI3OTU2MzA4X0ZGRDhBNDFC] we just had the 1st X flare of November 2011 X1.9 Flare on 11/03/2011 @ 20:27 UTC - sunspot 1339 New sunspot 1339 is a beast! it is the largest sunspot region yet of Solar Cycle 24 http://www.solen.info/solar/images/AR_CH_20111102_hres.jpg MAGNIFICENT SUNSPOT: One of the largest sunspots in years is rotating over the sun's northeastern limb. Measuring some 40,000 km wide and at least twice that in length, the sprawling sunspot group is an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. Two or three of the sunspot's dark cores are wider than Earth itself. Future CMEs could have greater effect as AR1339 turns toward Earth in the days ahead http://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=03&month=11&year=2011 Region 11339 [N19E72] rotated fully into view. This is a compact region with a very high flare potential. X class flares are possible, even X10+ events. The region has a significant magnetic delta structure in the central part and several small deltas elsewhere http://www.solen.info/solar/
[quote:IwantToBelieve76:MV8xMzgyOTUyXzI3OTU2MzMwX0RBMkU3RkVB] Space.com reports now..: Largest Sunspot in Years Observed on the Sun One of the largest sunspots in years has appeared on the sun, darkening part of its glowing face. The massive sunspot, called AR1339, is about 50,000 miles (80,000 km) long, and 25,000 miles (40,000 km) wide, reports SpaceWeather.com. For comparison, Earth itself is only 8,000 miles (12,800 km) wide. The behemoth isn't yet facing our planet, but was spotted today (Nov. 3) by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) satellite. When it does turn our way in the days ahead, it should be an "easy target for backyard solar telescopes," according to SpaceWeather.com. The sunspot is actually a group of nearby darkened spots on the sun, some of which are individually wider than planet Earth... This is from their forcast prepared yesterday the 2nd. IB. Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be lowthrough the period (03 - 05 November) with a chance for an M-class flare from Region 1339. http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ftpdir/forecasts/RSGA/1102RSGA.txt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oYWc5bUJDg&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KaXVhfsB-A&feature=player_embedded
We have just had another huge X flare measuring at a X8.2 originating from sunspot 2673
On September 11, 2017

ALL flares recorded ARE Earth facing regardless of where the sunspot is located
-----------
CME FROM X9 HAS ARRIVED!
Issue Time: 2017 Sep 07 2242 UTC
WARNING: Geomagnetic Sudden Impulse expected
Valid From: 2017 Sep 07 2255 UTC
Valid To: 2017 Sep 07 2330 UTC
IP Shock Passage Observed: 2017 Sep 07 2229 UTC
On September 6th we have had 2 X flares! A X2.2 at 09:10 utc & a secend larger flare just a few hours later of X9.3 at 12:02 utc. There is a large widespread Earth directed CME associated with this latest X flare as we can see here

An update as to the arrival time of this CME will be added once all data has been reviewed.
The X9.3 flare is the 14th largest X flare ever recorded!
On September 4th we had 7 M flares from fast growing sunspot 2673, with at least 1 large dense Earth directed CME. This CME will arrive late in the day on Wednesday September 6th.
There is now a 25% chance for X flares over the next 24hrs & 71% chance for M flares
We have a Long Duration M2.4 Solar Flare starting
01:05 UTC July 14th 2017
There was a full halo CME observed with this solar flare. The associated CME is Earth Directed. See discussion on the last page for all updates!
