[quote:Anonymous Coward 14520126:MV8xMzgyOTUyXzMwNjU1Nzc4XzVEN0VCOTJC] [quote:Hugh M Eye:MV8xMzgyOTUyXzMwNjU1NDAwXzFFQTIxOTg3] AR1455 seems to be decaying and regions 1454,56, 57, and 58 have pretty much disappeared. AR1459 in the SE looks big and strong, but we haven't seen much flaring so far. :1459HMIIC: The new region responsible for the "over the limb" flares is now right on the limb and it looks very large. http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/assets/img/browse/2012/04/16/20120416_141041_2048_HMII.jpg SIDC is predicting weak effects from the slow halo CME on April 18-19. From the daily SIDC bulletin- COMMENT: Solar activity is low with only few C-class flares during the past 24 hours. The returning NOAA AR 1449 (Catania 02) has beta magnetic field configuration and has a potential for C-class and small chances for a M-class flares. After the passage of the high-speed stream the solar wind speed has decreased to the value of about 370 km/s. The geomagnetic conditions are quiet. The arrival of the partial halo CME from April 15 is expected on April 18 or early on April 19. We do not expect strongly disturbed geomagnetic conditions (K index maximum 4) due to the slow speed of the CME. http://sidc.oma.be/products/meu/ Here's the CACTus details of that CME on the 15th: http://www.sidc.oma.be/cactus/out/CME0019/CME.html And SEEDS movie: http://spaceweather.gmu.edu/seeds/mkmovie.php?cme=20120415.080005.w100.v0116.p248&frame=24&r
Why are the sunspots decaying when they come into earth's view. /Some of them were just formed few days back. What is happeneing.Any explanation for this???
We have just had another huge X flare measuring at a X8.2 originating from sunspot 2673
On September 11, 2017

]
ALL flares recorded ARE Earth facing regardless of where the sunspot is located
-----------
CME FROM X9 HAS ARRIVED!
Issue Time: 2017 Sep 07 2242 UTC
WARNING: Geomagnetic Sudden Impulse expected
Valid From: 2017 Sep 07 2255 UTC
Valid To: 2017 Sep 07 2330 UTC
IP Shock Passage Observed: 2017 Sep 07 2229 UTC
On September 6th we have had 2 X flares! A X2.2 at 09:10 utc & a secend larger flare just a few hours later of X9.3 at 12:02 utc. There is a large widespread Earth directed CME associated with this latest X flare as we can see here

An update as to the arrival time of this CME will be added once all data has been reviewed.
The X9.3 flare is the 14th largest X flare ever recorded!
On September 4th we had 7 M flares from fast growing sunspot 2673, with at least 1 large dense Earth directed CME. This CME will arrive late in the day on Wednesday September 6th.
There is now a 25% chance for X flares over the next 24hrs & 71% chance for M flares
We have a Long Duration M2.4 Solar Flare starting
01:05 UTC July 14th 2017
There was a full halo CME observed with this solar flare. The associated CME is Earth Directed. See discussion on the last page for all updates!
