However, I think it is amazing that the water has not receded in the area shown...looks quite like a lot of water still remains. Is that normal?
WOW that doesnt look normal to me. look at pics of indonesia a day after the tsunami there was no water. it retreated back into the ocean just a day later. http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/photos/tsunami-general/
It was probably already a low level area which sunk again 1.5 feet after the quake. Water will not flow back in this case. In the Netherlands we have areas that are 6 meters below sealevel, after a flood the water will not move back to sea..
I am a long time reader of this site and like DOOM as much as the next guy but this post is not about DOOM but rather information that hopefully will save lives.
I had a friend come into our store today who works for civil defense here on the big island, kailua kona end of the big island, he said that japan was sinking and that a tsunami was soon to follow. It's disappointing in that they are not making this information available to the public, perhaps to avoid mass chaos which is understandable.
if you are in hawaii or on the west coast of north America
BE PREPARED! buy food, water, and whatever else is needed I am no expert and doing the best I can to protect my family, you do the same.
If anyone can confirm or refute please do so but most of all if you have knowledge about whats happening on any scale about Japan please share here as I for one would be eternally grateful.
Thanks!
*edit meant west coast - im in a bit of panic.
