Original Message in fact...I remember from when I was younger and used iodine tincture for making stream water "safe to drink", when there was starch in the water, or introduced to the water, the water would turn PURPLE... is that a valid test for radioactive isotopes of iodine? I can't imagine it would turn as vibrant of a color as I remember from my youth, but would it be detectable? would the color change happen at all?

hopefully a GLPer with some chemistry experience will know how to answer that one.. might make for a "so easy your two year old can do it" testing method
