[quote:Anonymous Coward 679335:MV8xNDI5NTM0XzIzNTc0NzY3XzIzMkU1NEY0] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1325387] [quote:Anonymous Coward 1027338] I was able to get a package of Iosat before the price jumps. I'm in Southern California and am wondering if I and when I should take it (or if the time has passed). Your information seems like it wouldn't hurt?
The site talks about supplementation with Iodoral 12.5 mg tablets for health purposes (not protection from radiation). Each Iodoral tablet contains 12.5 mg of elemental iodine per tablet (5 mg iodine and 75 mg iodide as the potassium salt). As for daily dose, THAT SITE states "the collective experience of three generations of clinicians has found the safest and most effective amounts for treating symptoms and signs of iodine/iodide deficiency is 12.5 - 50 mg/day". Iosat contains 130 mg of potassium iodide per tablet. Iodoral contains 5 mg iodine / 75 mg iodide per tablet. Basically two Iodoral tablets contain 20 mg more iodide than one Iosat tablet. But Iodoral also contains iodine whereas Iosat does not. Hmmm. I keep hearing warnings I'm sure all of you have heard: "Don't take it", "Be careful", "Could do more harm than good", "You don't need it". I guess I will make my own decision based on my own research (which I LOVE to do by the way LOL). I am just learning about all this stuff. I think it is such valueable information - I feel like I have just struck gold! I have many conditions mentioned at that site and was leaning toward iodine deficiency even prior to finding that site. Needless to say I was floored when I read the info at that site! I think the best advice is to do lots of your own research and weigh all the facts so you can make for yourself an extremely INFORMED decision about taking Iosat, Iodoral, or any other supplement. Also factor in: where you live (more exposure?), body size, other conditions you may have (thyroid disease, etc), if you are taking any other meds that may negatively interact with the Iosat. I personally would not take Iosat unless I knew for a fact that radiation levels were at lethally high levels. BUT how do we find that out is the question! Iodine in and of itself is a naturally occuring element; a nutrient our bodies NEED, but you still need to use caution so you will not overdose on it. Vitamin A and iron are also naturally occuring and necessary for proper functioning of the body, but an overdose of either CAN KILL YOU. Be wise and be careful! :peace:
Iodoral contains 5mg of Iodine and 7.5 mg of iodide as potassium salt. One Iodoral contains 12.5 mg and that's about 1/10 of the Iosat. I try to take one Iodoral a day, after several months of taking two a day to build my iodine levels up.
Original Message
Wow! I just started learning about iodine (ironically) about a week prior to the Japan EQ due to a suspected thyroid issue. I ran across a website last night that has such unbelievable info about iodine. WHY don't "they" tell us this info??! This should be common knowledge! Instead they push drugs and tell us we have
disorders
when really we have
deficiencies
!!!
Check out the site.

The info is given in a slide-show type presentation and is very easy to read. You will be shocked and PO'd! I was anyhow. After reading this info, I realized that THEY started taking away the potassium iodide / potassium iodine LONG before 3-3-11 !!!
Iodine was once a common ingredient in many foods such as bread. In the 1980's, iodine was removed from our breads and REPLACED with Bromine. Bromine worsens iodine-deficiency problems because it INHIBITS absorption of iodine in the body! It is also a known CARCINOGEN.
Iodine is a body detoxifier! It has been proven to detoxify the body by flushing the following harmful substances out of the body:
Bromine
Fluoride
Chlorine
Mercury
Lead
Aluminum
Cadmium
Iodine deficiency is linked to the following:
Thyroid disease
Prostate cancer
Breast cancer
Ovarian cancer
Endometrial cancer
Ovarian cysts
Fibrocystic Breast Disease
- Fibromyalgia (strong evidence supports fibromyalgia is simply iodine deficiency)
Iodine is cancer's ENEMY! Iodine is not toxic to normal cells but IS toxic to cancer cells!
In addition to causing cancer, an iodine deficiency will cause existing cancer to be more aggressive. Iodine is responsible for
CONTROLLED
cell death - a normal, necessary function of out bodies. Iodine plays a HUGE role in keeping cells in check so they don't grow out of control and overtake the body. Cancer cells are cells that keep growing and don't die! (thus lumps/tumors)
Iodine deficiency seems like a logical explanation for cancer!
Coincidentally, Japanese women have lower rates of breast, endometrial and ovarian cancers as well as fibrocystic breast disease. Go figure! Their diets are loaded with iodine from fish and seaweed!
WHY ISNT IODINE PART OF THE STANDARD TREATMENT FOR CANCER?
Iodine supplementation improves / cures the following:
- Thinning hair / hair loss
Fatigue / tiredness
Feeling cold
Brain fog / memory problems
- Muscle pain
- Basically all symptoms of hypothyroidism!
Unbelievable! Please read the site as there is so much more than what I've shared here. I am buying some Iodoral ASAP - not just for protection against radiation, but for everything explained at that site!
