[quote:Anonymous Coward 1336257:MV8xNDM5Nzk5XzIzNzE5NDAxX0M4RDZDOEI1] the fish do not, but the current comes straight across to alaska then south. radioactive particles are heavy so they sink, so I doubt much will come that way. What i think about is the fact that the entire western US drains into a few rivers which dump into some of the best fishing areas. There will be radioactivity in that runoff. Shellfish will be the highest concentrators. First the gulf, and now this: we have quit eating clams, oysers, scallops , mussels, crabs, lobster. soon to quit fish too, though last years salmon is still sold frozen. Eating new zealand imports will be ok for a while yet: eg: lamb, orange roughy, green lipped mussels. [/quote]

Excerpt;
One of the four sample fish had a level of cesium of 570 becquerels per kilogram on Thursday about 1 kilometer off the city of Iwaki, and the other three measured 480 to 500 becquerels. The limit is 500 becquerels under the Food Sanitation Law.
Don't most Fish migrate? Imagine these radioactive Fish migrating to the shores of California. You wouldn't eve know it swimming or Fishing out in that ocean. Unless you were prepared with devices to track the radiation. It's Cesium 137 folks, half life of 30 years. You really think those Fish will say to themselves, 'Let's not migrate this year, we shouldn't spread this Cesium 137 across the Pacific. Really now! Hawaii, That's a whole new story. Their major food supply is marine life. Things are tough enough for those people on that island.
