I'm not defending President Obama, but if it's fair to question his citizenship, then it's fair to question the citizenship of anyone running for the presidency. Romney opened the door by commenting on the Obama birth certificate controversy, so I say we give him the same scrutiny as Obama ... in fact, it should be blanket policy across the board for anyone running. If Romney refuses to release it, then he's absolutely no different than Obama in that they both, likely, have something critical to hide about their backgrounds.
Fucking right, he should. And all the others should, too. There should be no doubt ever again.
People in the Senate should also have the Birth Certs checked and double checked...
You do know they only have to be citizens, not natural born citizens, right? It's probably not a bad idea, but not as important as president. While we're at it, we should check the background of all of our elected representatives. You have to present one to get almost any other job. Why not Senator? It's a little more importantn than insurance salesman.
The Senate pass laws and are courted by particular lobbies right?
The reason I said not as important is mostly because I don't doubt any of their citizenship statuses (stati?), but yes, to be consistent, we should check them out, too.
I'll admit this: I did not know that Mitt Romney is refusing to produce his birth certificate until I read a column by Joan Vennochi in today's Boston Globe blowing the lid off this important story. It turns out that we don't even know Mitt Romney's real name!
Long story short:
Mitt Romney still has not produced a "certificate of live birth." And we know for a fact that as a young man he spent years living in a foreign country that looks down on America. A country that is intimately familiar with colonial thinking.
