[quote:Dr. House:MV8xNTM5Njk2XzI1NDM5MTQ2Xzc4QzQ4MjA3] [quote:Skynate] Actually I am type 2, diagnosed about 4 months ago, My A1C was 10.8 but is not down to 6.9 and my sugar ran in the 500's . I have always been small, but since I started the metformin , I continue to lose weight, I have got my sugar under control, but I do cheat every once in a while. as long as i dont go over 60 carbs a meal and snacks are 30 carbs, I seriously cant figure it out. my brother died at 52 with diabetes and my mom and dad also had it. I am thinking of going to an diabetic doctor instead of a family doctor since I do have some issues with my feet etc. but I also have cholesterol so i am limited in diet there also. drives me crazy trying to figure all this out. what i can eat for diabetes , i cant eat with the cholesterol and vice versa. I feel a lot better it is just I cant afford to lose anymore , i will look like skeleton. Thanks for all the advice I will seek answers on it...
You need a nutritionist/dietician. For US medical insurance you will need to have your doctor refer you. You have reduced your carb intake to meet your diabetic needs, but you have not replaced those calories with something else. As such, you are now ingesting less calories, which you are burning off. And yes you need a specialist.
I am trying desperately to keep my weight constant but having difficulty doing this. How can a diabetic keep his/her weight constant?
