UPDATE: Florida Libertarians Say "Enough!" To The TSA

Dear Florida Liberty group,
This message is being sent over 100 tea party, civil libertarian, 912, and patriot groups in Florida. It is time for all of our organizations to stand together on an issue that unites us all.
That issue is the Transportation Security Administration's blatant disregard for the Fourth Amendment, the Florida Constitution, and Florida's laws against sexual battery. We've all seen Floridians being forced to enter unsafe radiation scanners. We've seen children being groped by TSA employees in ways that should outrage any parent. We've seen wheelchair-bound seniors being humiliated, degraded, and molested. Many of us have experienced it personally.
On July 4, 2011, the Libertarian Party of Florida sent a letter to the 67 county sheriffs in Florida urging them to uphold the Constitution and enforce state law by arresting TSA agents who violate the Fourth Amendment. We pleaded with them to defend Article 1, Section 12 of the Florida Constitution. We demanded that they enforce Florida Statute 794.011 regarding sexual battery.
Though our Constitutional sheriffs have both the authority and the responsibility to enforce these laws...our pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
As of today, not one sheriff has responded to our request. Not one sheriff has indicated that they will perform their sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. Not one sheriff has shown the courage to demonstrate that TSA employees are not above the law.
We intend to apply more pressure on Florida's sheriffs to ensure that they perform their sworn duty.
We intend to remind Florida's sheriffs that they work for We, The People.
For that reason, the Libertarian Party of Florida is planning a major rally at the upcoming Florida Sheriff's Association convention on July 31, 2011 at the Hilton Resort Ocean Walk Village at 100 North Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach Florida. The rally will begin at 4pm, and continue until at least 7pm. Everyone is strongly urged to attend and to bring signs encouraging the sheriffs to uphold the law as it applies to the TSA.
It is time for everyone who considers themselves a patriot to act. This is an opportunity to put aside our minor differences, and to unite in order to defend the United States Constitution.
Though this idea is only hours old, several groups have already confirmed that they will participate in this event. We expect the list of participating groups to grow in the coming days.

We will be making a major press announcement in the coming days, and we will include all groups who wish to participate in all of our media communications.
Take a stand for liberty. Join in this fight. Help restore our Constitutional Republic.
