Original Message Need help 2003 KIA Spectra has no fire.
Im in deep you know what. This is my wifes car. Check engine light was on , said it was a cylynder 4 misfire. I changed the spark plugs and didn't disconnect battery or follow firing order 1342. Started car and it idled very rough and was vibrating alot. Died when I took it out of park and now it wont start at all. Turns over all day but it wont start.

I went back and fourth with the new spark plugs and back with the old ones and nothing. I hooked a couple of my spark plugs up to the wires and touched the end to the engine block , cranked it and no sparks. hooked it up to a scanner tool and it gave the code p1780. They said at auto parts store that it pointed to the crank and or cam censors.

Kia said by not following firing order and disconneting battery I could have shorted/fried spark plugs and anything with a wire. If I put in a new crank censor do i have to take all of the wires and coils off of the spark plugs in firing order and put them back on in same order before or after i put the crank censor on to get them to work? Or can I just leave evreything as is and just put the crank censor on and start it up?

What would cause me to not have fire? Also will it screw up the firing order if I take out both wires from the igntion coils (one wire on each side of both coils) before I pull the wires and coils that are hooked to the spark plugs? Also can I plug the wires back into each side of the coils before I plug the coils and wires back on the spark plugs? Will that screw up firing order? Does anyone think just by not folowing firing order it would cause the car to not start or short somthing out? I'm in a tough bind and I would really appriciate any help. Thanks
