He didn’t take offense to anything, even when people meant to be offensive. It was an amazing quality to have. What’s that line that reminded me so of Charles? ‘If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs’?” Well, Charles could keep his head when all about him were losing theirs.” It’s a quality that helped Charles Wyly win a football scholarship to Louisiana Tech University, where he played halfback. His brother loved to read, Sam Wyly said, which is why he had pulled into the airport to buy a newspaper after attending services at a nearby Christian Science church. Charles Wyly then drove onto a highway in his Porsche, which his children had bought for him 30 years ago. “It’s a double-lane highway,” Sam Wyly said. “He was trying to cross over, to get to the other side. There’s not a light there, and that’s where the other car hit him.” Charles Wyly loved theater, Sam Wyly said, a quality he “inherited from our mother.” In addition to his wife, Dee, Charles Wyly left behind four children and seven grandchildren, Sam Wyly said. Funeral arrangements have not been decided, he said. They gave more than $1 million to the Republican National Committee between 2000 and 2004, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. They were also among George W. Bush’s top contributors and were involved in the early political career of U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Dallas.
"Wyly, who maintained a home near Aspen, Colo., was turning onto a highway near the local airport when his
Porsche
was hit by a sport utility vehicle Sunday, the Colorado State Patrol said in a statement. Wyly died at Aspen Valley Hospital."
Never heard of him, but always wonder--what really happened?
Anyone know of a reason he would be taken out?
Interesting that they said he was killed rather than he died.
