I'm not surprised though, it was very low by this time (8:45pm cst) at ~ 3 degrees above the horizon. And with all the light pollution near the horizon it would be very difficult to see.
Are you able to take photos or even a screen shot through your laptop? Tomorrow (or the next) can you post a photo of Elenin? Nice Scope BTW...
Not any more. I had one of those cheap webcam type cameras, but didn't like the results I got with it so I sent it back. I'm saving my money to buy a better one. Before I sent it back I did take this pic of Saturn....the one on the left. The one on the right is from Stellarium. I made this pic to show how images are flipped horizontally when viewed through a telescope. :saturn:
I finally bought the cable to connect my telescope to my laptop so I can control it with Stellarium.
The first object I selected in Stellarium was Saturn just to test it out. The scope went right to it and Saturn was visible in the center of the eyepiece. Yay it works!
Next, I selected C/2010 X1 (Elenin), but didn't see anything. I'm not surprised though, it was very low by this time (8:45pm cst) at ~ 3 degrees above the horizon. And with all the light pollution near the horizon it would be very difficult to see.
My third object was another comet, C/2009 P1 (Garradd). It was much higher in the sky at ~ 65 degrees. This time I saw a faint fuzzy. WooHoo!, my first comet viewed with my telescope. I guess I'm going to have to wait until October to be able to see Elenin.
