What makes you think that ?
It's been fairly quiet lately until today and now stirring with lots more quakes including shallow. My question was only half serious after I noticed the seismic graphs ramping up from flat-line. http://www.ign.es/ign/head/volcaSenalesAnterioresDia.do?nombreFichero=CHIE_2012-09-14&estacion=CHIE&Anio=2012&Mes=09&Dia=14&tipo=1
I'm not sure if you noticed but I will point out that this thread was started August 2011 when the activity started... and subsided. We have had this year another significant swarm ... that subsided also. This activity is so very minimal at the moment to what we have seen in the past year that it CAN be sniffed at. The charts are NOT showing harmonic tremors, which means there is NO volcanic activity. Why do you think it is going to blow ?
I didn't realize there was NO volcanic activity associated with El Hierro, the Canaries and the graphs. Maybe a whale fart in the ocean. Please ignore my post and thanks for your info. Over 40 quakes were reported on Hierro alone yesterday, many with very shallow depths. 3.8 hit just North of Tenerife as well, bringing curiosity to the region...what's next?

So...they are totally dismayed as to how these rocks could be so full of radiation? Humm...let's try this explanation!
Thread: OLD NUCLEAR WASTE DUMP SITE OFF EL HIERRO! OMG!
The United States used to use the coastal waters of El Hierro as a nuclear dumping ground. The idea that our nuclear waste has been drawn into the subversion plates, burnt down into the magma and then redistributed through El Hierro's underwater eruption is quite a possible scenario!
''
These eruptions are commonly phreatomagmatic eruptions, representing violent explosions caused by rising basaltic or andesitic magma coming into contact with abundant, shallow groundwater or surface water.
