Original Message I dug out an old Starlite desk phone that was originally thrown away in a garbage dump, opened it up, replaced the original connecting cord with a modern phone cord with a plug for a phone jack, oiled the rotary mechanism to make it work smoothly, cleaned up the outside, plugged it in and it worked like a charm.

The phone company's system still recognizes the clicks made by the phone to dial the number.

There's something natural about using a rotary phone than all that artificial push button and texting crap that eventually gives you ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder). With a rotary dial, you actually have to think and concentrate when dialing the number so you don't screw up and have to redial.
