Who uses a rotary phone in 2011?

EVERY power failure we have had in my neighborhood has led to a loss of phone service for those using the new IP phone since the cable providers (the only ones providing high speed internet service to my neighborhood) battery backup system runs out of juice for their internet connection in about 12 hours. (do use IP phones for business and love our IP phone system for business, NOT FOR HOME! ... IP systems are NOT as durable or dependable as the paired copper wire system of the old phone network) The old phones made by Western Electric (division of the "OLD" AT&T) were designed and made with very very high quality products ... better than mil spec in fact ... and had a design life of 80+ years as I understand it. If you are still on a dial up line and want something that is going to last for another 30 to 50 years pick up one of those old phones, tough tone OR rotary, at a yard sale of flea market ... the best ones were the Western Electric ones, so turn it over and look on the bottom to see if they were ones made by Western Electric. I dug out an old Starlite desk phone that was originally thrown away in a garbage dump, opened it up, replaced the original connecting cord with a modern phone cord with a plug for a phone jack, oiled the rotary mechanism to make it work smoothly, cleaned up the outside, plugged it in and it worked like a charm.
The phone company's system still recognizes the clicks made by the phone to dial the number.
There's something natural about using a rotary phone than all that artificial push button and texting crap that eventually gives you ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder). With a rotary dial, you actually have to think and concentrate when dialing the number so you don't screw up and have to redial.
