Been there and done that and agree that it's an uncomfortable feeling. I'm in central Ky, actually the exact geographic center of Ky is in the field across from my house. Any with ley line info can enlighten me on any meaning to be found in that fact, but here in my county of Marion we're noticing that the worm eating birds are gone. Thinking maybe the earthworms are too and have been gone for 3 weeks now. This includes the robins and red-winged blackbirds which normally winter over here and don't migrate. The purple martins and mockingbirds left just prior to the robins and redwings. We still have seed eaters such as cardinals, finches, wrens, doves. Also still have the hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, etc. I'm in the north end of the county, people we know who live in the south end are reporting the same, also 2 from the western side of the county. This is a county of game hunters and when they notice something different in the environment then it needs to be taken seriously. Last Saturday we had an outside temperature of 102. On Sunday morning our temp had dropped to 52. The ground smells continue and maybe I'm the only that can smell these since I have yet to meet anyone else that notices these. The smells are sulphur, burning dirt, mold, or wet concrete. I know that overpasses and bridges in Nelson County have been worked on this summer, especially around the Bluegrass Parkway. The bridge I hate the worst is the one that goes from Milton Ky over to Madison IN.
Regarding, "The smells are sulphur, burning dirt, mold, or wet concrete." I sent a text last night to a friend on the outskirts of Louisville asking if he too, could smell that awful odor. I described it in almost the exact words that you used. Thank you so much for sharing that! :-)
Okay, I'm a first time poster here on GLP, so I hope I'm doing this right. With all the action in the NMSZ today, I felt I had to post this. The bridge leading from Louisville, KY into New Albany, IN was closed this morning in both directions "indefinitely", due to cracks. Is the New Madrid getting ready to come unhinged? Buckle up everyone! We could be in for quite a bumpy ride!
